Yeah the nikka has an ego, but that's black people period. We're a proud race.

I see Tariq for what he is, a nikka who's bout that dollar, and he doesn't lie bout that. So what you do with people like that is take the jewels they offer and kim.

At one point i erroneously wanted him to be dome type of leader until Tariq checked me. He doesn't want to be a leader because we can't protect our leaders. He doesn't want to get killed, plus that's not who he is. Fine, as a race, we don't need a leader in this day any way. Since I don't listen to his show or read any of his articles (if he writes them), my only knowledge of him was being the "pimp" on MTV Made and the "macking" guy. As a result, I've always viewed him as a joke or clown.

I viewed Hidden Colors without knowing that he spread headed the documentary and objectively thought it was positive and a good way to get young blacks interested in their history.

As a result of those combined perceptions, I can respect the work he does in collaboration with actual scholars, and I'll just leave it at that.

What's the point of tearing down someone like Tariq? He is one of the few out there that actually talks about result driven solutions. Even with the Ferguson outrage, he has been advocating for the residents to push for a recall of the local elected officials. That is an action the public there can take in addition to protesting.

As far as him making money, how else is he supposed to eat? He literally does a show every weekend and one during the week. How many people you know are committed to doing something every week? Should he not try to make money off his efforts? Everyone from MLK to Malcolm had to get funding from somewhere. You're not going to make any moves without raising money.

Agreeing with him or anyone else 100% is foolish. However, that shouldn't disqualify him from being a valid voice. It's like people want a perfect Messiah to be the official "black" voice. My mom, my sister, my nieces, and female cousins matter just as much as my dad, my brother, my nephews, and my male cousins.

My life isn't worth less because I'm black and it's definitely not worth less just because I'm a woman.
