Exactly, there is no point. This was a partisan " impeachment" meaning pretty much the democrats only wanted it. They wanted it even before he got into office. Two Republicans, one of them being on the Majority & Republican leader of the Senate said they will not be impartial and fair jurors. McConnell also said that he will coordinate the Republican defense and their motions to set rules for the trial with Trump and the white house.

Trump legit got the grand jury in his back pocket.

A lot of these GOP Senators are loyal to Trump because they are scared of him. In particular the ones up for re-election in 2020. They are scared of his supporters. If they turn against him, they fear they may lose in a primary to a Trump backed Republican who is more loyal to Trump. Also, Trump controls a lot of the Republican Party campaign money that Republican Senators need for campaigning and to keep their seats. Trump has already been putting that money over their heads as a way of maintaining loyalty. Without Trump's money some of these Senators are screwed.

Trump essentially extorted the Republican party. He's the Teflon Don.

Yea trump is definitely being removed. I can't wait to see all the "trump is the teflon don the Republicans wouldn't vote trump out" people's reaction. I already broke down the whole scenario of trump supporters reactions and I can't wait to quote myself saying "I told y'all exactly what was go happen". Most of all it's go be another big celebration when he get removed.
