man that parkinson guy was on some other shyt talking shyt about the fighters in that era. :snoop:

that was one of the deepest eras in heavyweight boxing in terms of talent. hes sat there calling top ten fighters talentless? :what:

fukking idiot.

That was literally one of the GOAT eras in boxing when it comes to the sheer amount of talent at the time. Don't you think it's funny how politically incorrect they were? LOL they would never have a black man saying all that 'you people are white devils :pacspit: shyt today.

A lot has changed. This type of interview could never happen on Parkinson today :lupe:

I don't think you can blame Frazier for being bitter. In the dynamic of hyping a fight, and from a detatched view point, it's great to watch. However, from the dynamic of their friendship, where Frazier sees it, Ali crossed the line and caused a lot of emotional damage to a friend who had put himself out for Ali on numerous occasions.

You can argue that Joe should have been able to separate the person from the persona and seen through what Ali was doing but that's easier said than done when you and your family are suffering in your daily life from the effects of what your suppossed close friend has been saying about you in the name of entertainment.

Either way, I'm pretty certain Ali realizes the damage he done to a guy who didn't deserve it and perhaps didn't have the intellectual tools to rationalise the situation.

I remember when I read an article about Joe Frazier dying and them saying 'the man who lived after Ali's embarrassment has lost to him again' shyt was a little hard to read that the accolades he could have gotten for his career were marred by the whole fiasco.

I do believe it was persona because Frazier supported Ali financially too and there was no reason for him to go in on him outside of sports. Honestly it was a way to protect his ego, he appeared to have that thing where to take the heat off yourself even if that's resorting to nursery school disses to the man who gave you so much for entertainment.

Don't forget Ali stared he got his pre match trash talking tactics from that wrestler Gorgeous George who used similar tactics to draw in crowds.

Ali was undefeated for so long because his tactics were both physical and mental. He often used trash talk to derail his opponents then picked his moments.

Breh the odd thing is Ali didnt get to enjoy his retirement too much either. He got sick too. So there aren't many winners in this tbh :ehh:

Couldn't OP have started said interesting refreshing topic like a normal person and not a "question" to ONE posters avi? Seems like it would have gone better... :yeshrug:

You might be right, I should have done better but however it still works and I don't think you would have come in this thread anyway and someone would have said, 'Move this thread to the "Ring" section" but in TRL got alot attention so what I did is worked. :manny:. Since you didn't talk about Ali vs Frazier so better get the f*ck out of my thread if you don't like it.

This shyt right here was inexcusable when he used the toy gorilla to taunt him :snoop:

In Manila

Then Ali reached into his pocket, pulled out a black rubber gorilla, and announced, 'This is the way Joe Frazier looks when you hit him.'

Ali began pummeling the gorilla. 'Come on, gorilla,' he taunted as Frazier glowered and the assembled media laughed. 'We're in Manila. Come on, gorilla; this is a thrilla.'

'Joe Frazier is so ugly,' Ali said, pouring more salt into the wound. 'His mother told me that, when Joe was a little boy, every time he cried, the tears would stop, turn around, and go down the back of his head.'

I remember being real into Ali some years ago, read a buncha books, watched almost every doc I could find and it always broke my heart when they spoke on that. After all Frazier did for him, if I were him, I'd have never forgiven Ali.

Ali was a master at hyping fights but why did he have to disrespect Frazier in this manner? He never did anything like this to his previous opponents. I have no problem with a guy saying he's gonna destroy his opponent or toy with him but using the words gorilla? Uncle tom? He crossed the line.

Ali is one of the greatest, but he was very naive and let himself being manipulated by nation of islam. And let me tell you, Frazier side is almost unkown outside US, while Ali is hailed as hero.

 breh he actually said the word fakkits live on TV :laff:

Ali was hard headed as fukk in that interview. His sheer stubbornness to go hard in what he believed in (even though his view was extreme) is a quality I wish more men had (for the right things of course).

Parkinson got ethered too many times  thought he was slick
