I remember being real into Ali some years ago, read a buncha books, watched almost every doc I could find and it always broke my heart when they spoke on that. After all Frazier did for him, if I were him, I'd have never forgiven Ali.

Thank You!. It did break my heart when I found out and had me :ohhh:.

@Theraflu You need to watch ESPN's 30 for 30 Real Rocky.

I watched on Netflix. It was a good documentary. I felt lost respect for Sylvester Stallone for not sharing his money to Chuck Wepner. I can't believe that Sylvester borrowed "from Wepner's life" to used his movies. And, I was upset at Ali wanted Chuck to do before the fight when they met at the hotel and Ali wanted him to call him a "N1gger" that had me :why: Ali?. the more I watched about Ali vs Frazier and made me realize how sh!tty Al was and I can see why Frazier would never forgive Ali.

Watch this video. You can tell Frazier was hurt after he whooped Ali ass but yet Ali still talked shyt on him and totally disrespect him but didn't give him some credit.

Ali was a master at hyping fights but why did he have to disrespect Frazier in this manner? He never did anything like this to his previous opponents. I have no problem with a guy saying he's gonna destroy his opponent or toy with him but using the words gorilla? Uncle tom? He crossed the line.

Ali is one of the greatest, but he was very naive and let himself being manipulated by nation of islam. And let me tell you, Frazier side is almost unkown outside US, while Ali is hailed as hero.

He was exceptionally naive. Both himself and Malcolm X two people who were literally used by NOI. They clung on to Ali because of his fame and used him as some kind of PR mouth piece. Ali being a young black man was clearly looking for some kind of solace or familiarity in NOI and they took him in while simply using him to fuel their propaganda. However, even he acknowledged that though, he said Malcolm X was right all along about NOI.

The Gorilla thing I will never get because that shyt is racist :patrice:

I can imagine racist white people were quite happy to hear that comment :patrice:

shyt must have been tough for Smokin literally most of black people at the time turned against hard him hard body. They all saw him as an Uncle Tom and it ruined his cred. He lost so many fans.

Remember the Bryant Gumbel article too? Black people literally turned on him and he never recovered from it.

Every time ive watched that clip it's always made me uncomfortable. You can sense the pain in Joe man :to: I never got why Ali tried that 'hug' aka front headlock shyt at this interview. You can tell at this point in his life and career he was so into that 'I'm the best, I'm so pretty'. Probably said that shyt before his sleep every night because he was so far gone in that.

I understand his trash talking and over confidence was part of his game but till today I'll never get why he did dude like that. Ill pin it on naivety, inflated ego, competitiveness and maybe a small bit of insecurity under it all too....

For some reason he felt the need to prove his a 'real black man' at this point to those NOI folks. He felt the need to prove himself so much. Was it who he really was or was it just persona.

Stan's say it was persona. Other people say it was who he really was.

I go with persona.

RIP to Joe tho :to:

 breh he actually said the word fakkits live on TV :laff:

Ali was hard headed as fukk in that interview. His sheer stubbornness to go hard in what he believed in (even though his view was extreme) is a quality I wish more men had (for the right things of course).

Parkinson got ethered too many times  thought he was slick

could you imagine the outrage if that was today :russ:

the fakkit agenda is real :krs:

I always accounted their relationship n off n on dislike to generational differences what do u think ?

A living purely because of his religious beliefs they took away his prime years. Ali was offered the same deal as Joe Louis had, just be a morale booster box exhibitions etc. Ali refused because he believed it was against his religion.

I remember when Ali called the opponents of Joe's record title defenses the bums of the month, Joe Louis replied, "Well, They might have been bum of the month, but you would have been on that list".
