There's a lot of times you can look at a guy who doesn't know what he's doing in the ring but you can tell he's going to be a star.
Give me a recent example.
Well, is Ryback the most skilled guy in the ring?
No.
Am I the only person that thinks this person should have played Max Payne in the live action movie instead of Mark Wahlberg?Until Viper MAYHEM arrives

Good interview, a lot of insight on the inner workings of WWE and Triple H's passion for the business. I don't like the fact he basically killed Foley's wrestling style. Sure, Foley wasn't a guy who's matches always had great ring psychology or technical and crisp ring work, but it was a entertaining style filled unpredictable and crazy moments. Besides, his match with Foley at Royal Rumble 2000 propelled Triple H as a legitimate main eventer that fans bought into.
I've always pref Wrestling over Entertainment, but that's just me. No matter what though, I think Foley has given 3 big things for WWF/E.
I do agree with H's assessment. You can still have the brutal violence, without the weapons. Case in point, now in the WWE you can deliver a big message with a chairshot that tossing someone off a cell because of the PG rating. Thus you can save wear and tear on someones body, but still have that effect.
- Allowing himself to be a ragdoll for Taker in the HIAC.
- Because of this the fans wanted to see him win the WWF Title. Giving him a victory over the Rock on Monday night shifted the control forever into WWF's grasp over WCW.
- The overall product was not what Vince wanted, but needed in order to survive. Foley would be the benchmark, taking the abuse in order for WWF's to stay alive and kill WCW. He was the enforcer of the Attitude Era.
I'm with you, I just feel like Triple h used Foley as the brunt of his argument of pointless violence to the point where I felt he was belittling him as a worker to a degree.

I'll never understand how a guy who really knows about "the business" has absolutely no idea how to book his character (or how he allows the amount of unnecessary protection his character has) in angles that involve him![]()
