I agree with you that before that shyt he was ass, but regardless of how he got to the top once he got there he proved he beloved there with great matches and some really good promos. Regardless of how you might feel about him fans bought into him as a cool heel and started tuning in to see him on TV and paying to see him at PPVs.

Edge should have been the top heel on Raw for a long time but Hunter kept fukking his shyt up. Same thing happened to Orton, nikka was having an epic heel run then Hunter decides he should be a face and he hasn't recovered since (and it's the second time it's happened to Orton).

With that said Edge as a face was always a complete disaster IMO.

I didn't ride edge wave or see the appeal as him as heel and I thought he was weak during that time.
If Prince Paul said he had to go then edge and that weak ass spear had to go.

I still can't believe big show fell to that shyt.

Edge didn't ride a scandal. Edge took control of his character and pushed himself to the next level. Matt Hardy had the same opportunity, was easily the guy with more fan momentum entering the feud and he completely dropped the ball. Rated R was an entirely different character from the WWE created Edge. And while the love triangle sparked everything, Edge became an entirely different performer.

Then the first title win drew big numbers and they hotshotted it back to Cena right away.

This is true. I never understood what WWE saw in the guy, I always thought he was overrated as fukk, but that initial Rated R run opened my eyes to how good he could be and how much potential he actually had.

I was a big Edge supporter when he started his singles run, but then he got injured and when he came back and speared Bishoff and got no response I was

The biggest genuine pop Hunter got as a face was when he came back from his quad injury. It was sheer respect. Since then his face runs have been forced as fukk. Think about how many times we've seen him try and milk sympathy pops by acting like he was having his last match only to get tepid reactions at best.

You ever hear the story about Summerslam 2006? It was Hogan vs Blandy and DX vs the McMahons as the other top match I think...Hogan outpopped him and Cripple H was furious. I think Hogan's match came on first but I'm not sure. Have only seen that even twice.

He's the only guy I can think of that has been around as long as he has and been booked as strongly as he has.....but there's ALWAYS at least 3 people WAY more popular than he is.
