You guys will say anything to diminish the role of HHH in the success of the summer of 2000, so there's no point here....

:what:

I didn't say anything about HHH. I was just saying that Kurt's year was epic and came from out of nowhere. Look at how he started that year and then look at how he finished that year. He goes from jobbing to Taz at the Royal Rumble, to holding the Euro and IC titles at the same time, to winning the KOTR tournament, to being the WWF Champion. 2000 for me will be about the rise of Kurt Angle. We all knew HHH was a main event player and would be for a loooong time, we didn't see Kurt getting to the top so quickly.

And to be fair you're right about Rock leaving to film The Mummy returns, but it wasn't any significant amount of time. He was barely in that movie and was only gone for like a week or two at best.

And that's what I said, HHH took a step back in terms of how he was booked during the 2000 and Kurt Angle became a much more prominent figured.

2000 Rock was the top guy (even Austin has said this), Kurt was rising to the main event, and Austin was making appearances and made his big comeback later in the year.

HHH had some really good moments and matches that year (particularly with Austin) but he wasn't the focal point of WWE at that time nor was he the top guy.

Which is crazy considering he headlined every damn PPV that summer.

From what I remember Rock didn't miss a single PPV that year and headlined the vast majority of them.

You said that 2000 was all about the rise of Kurt Angle....2000 was all about the Rock and Mcmahon/helmsley regime....HHH and steph were the ones who helped get Angle over. The company revolved around the Mcmahons/HHH/Rock.

Overall im just challenging the idea that HHH wasnt a significant player in the company doing monster business....Im not a huge fan of HHH personally, but I respect his work and ability professionally.

Except that nobody has said he wasn't a significant player (well R=G probably did.).

What we've been saying is that he was never on the level of Rock or Austin nor was he Focal point of WWE in the 2000's. Major player? yes Focal point? Nope.

HHH had a great year in 2000 but Rock was the top guy in the company and Kurt Angle was getting the biggest push during that year.

Nobody said HHH was a bit player we're just saying he wasn't the focal point of WWE (which is what you or somebody else in her claimed).

Yes, to me, 2000 was about the rise of Kurt Angle, and I would argue that Angle was getting over no matter what, also the McMahon/Helmsley storyline was big in the early part of the that year but pretty much done by the summer, IIRC, to me, the bigger storyline from that year was the 'Who ran over Austin' storyline.

Kurt Angle's rise in 2000 was epic, still arguably the GOAT Rookie year to date.

Nah, Lesnar had a better rookie year. He debuted, Won king of the ring, won his first WWE title, went over Hogan/Rock/Undertaker, and headlined his first Wrestlemania in under one year.

Keep trying to re-write history....besides, Im almost sure that the Rock left for a significant portion of time that year to film the Scorpion King...HHH was then the focal point, and business didnt drop a bit.

Six weeks between Rock leaving to film that and HHH blowing his quad. Nice try tho

The business was in a down turn while austin and rock were there in 02. They just left at the right time. You try drawing working with Kane, Scott Steiner, anf Nash. Nice try

Austin walked out in June and Rock was part time. Look at how business went after HHH got handed the title. Enron.
