Hi Tek is dope producer.
He's definitely been a part of classic albums and made classic beats. I loved that he could go from producing Talib and Mos to 50 and Game.
I do wish he was more active though and went on a run like Alc is doing.

I donāt think he's overlooked.
He's done some classic work. But he's not on the level of the greats though, with impact and presence. So I think he gets the respect he deserves, but he ain't overlooked. It's not just about a "big record" here and there. It's about that longevity, consistency along with the impact.

I think Presence is the biggest thing here for him. He didn't have a big enough of a run to solidify himself and dissappear like Just Blaze.
He was more in that Alc and Jake One lane, and the biggest difference with Alc is the work rate and output.

I liked it better when rap producers stayed behind the scenes, and the general public wasnt really aware of them unless you read album liner notes.

Just had huge records, but he was killing sh*t so crazily during his run, that you couldn't ignore him. High quality music too. Tek would pop up here and there. That's not good enough if you want to be mentioned with the greats.
Producers really have to chill with this "What about meeeeeee?" sh*t that so many of them are on now. Your catalogue is supposed to speak for itself.
