I don't know what it is about Spike Lee movies and the city of Greenville in NC, but he hasn't had a movie in theaters here since the Inside Man. I remember Miracle at St Anna dropping and I was hyped only for the theaters here not to show it. Now they're not showing this. I have to drive an hour and a half out of the city just to see it. And even in Raleigh, they are only showing it once per day. And the first day of those shows is sold out in a small room.

Oh, ATV shyt, that explains why there isnt much marketing for it. Only 3 weeks in theaters, then going to streaming.

Wish it got a wide release but again it was an Apple streaming situation. Same thing happen with Will's "Emancipation". I guess the money was good for Spike and Denzel regardless. They still knew people wanted to see this on the Big screen also awards consideration so they went with a limited release. Can't wait to see it. Denzel and Spike are flawless together. I think Denzel could have helped this do solid numbers in a wide release. It's already getting great reviews.

This clearly feels like a passion project and I am all for it. They have it in a few theaters by me. I'll check for it.

I'm seeing a matinee of dis joint on Friday (8/15/2025) I was a little bit surprised the theater that showing it that I'm going to almost sold out of its viewing.
