All Eyez On Me, Me Against The World & 7 Day Theory are better albums than Illmatic. Nobody gave a flying fk about Illmatic when that shyt came out. Yall love to remake history. It wasn’t until the song If I Ruled The World blew up IWW sold that people started going back to revisit his first album and it still took 7 years for that to sell one million. It Was Written is what made Nas who he is today not Illmatic.

False again. Illmatic was certified gold in its initial album run before IWW dropped. Which was phenomenal for an underground grimy NY album at the time. But I’ll stop here if you are incapable of understanding nuance and believe that Illmatic was supposed to sell as much as Doggystyle because: The Source.

Those Pac albums are way better.

Nas flopped, compared to other debuts of 1994,whom it routinely gets mentioned WITH or more than, via east coast bias media.
