Without consumption there is no industry, without industry there is no consumption.

The only caveat is that when consumption dies the industry dies.
When industry dies, new shyt takes its place.
Consumption > Industry in terms of everything from Job creation to innovation.
Consumption is the fuel of our economy.

so is Hillary Clinton right in her assertion that Private Businesses dont create jobs?

semantics.
Of course they create the jobs, jobs don't just fall out of thin air, BUT they create them in response to consumers. Consumers aren't created in response to jobs being created.
I think the point of the "right" in this thread is that Hilary is wrong, and doesn't understand how the economy works. Everything else is just poking the "lefties" :smugbiden:

you don't have to trust me, I can refer you to most of the biggest name in tech and they will say the same

even bankers are starting to see the light :

What technology has the potential to disrupt the financial services sector the most?

It’s not the tech giants like Apple AAPL +1.34%, Facebook FB +0.22% or Google GOOGL +1.24%, who have all made recent moves into payments services.

According to Oliver Bussmann, CIO of Swiss bank UBS UBSN.VX +5.77%, the biggest disrupting force is the blockchain – the underlying technology behind Bitcoin, the electronic-only currency which is created on computers and isn’t controlled by any government or centralized authority.

"Blockchain Technology Can Massively Simplify Banking"

"What technology has the potential to disrupt the financial services sector the most?"

Lot of "intangibles" here....:patrice:

Is there any evidence of past success for Bitcoin?

I'd say a 5 billion $ market cap for a virtual currency is a pretty successful achievement.

Or you can just simply lookup "Byzantines General Problem" on Google. Bitcoin solves that and that in itself is a MAJOR CS breakthrough.

I'm not sure how you qualify success?
