The saudis suck, but is there any American politician who hasn't cosied up to them?

Either way, I said she was a good secretary of state, she restored American trust diplomacy that had been eroded by Bush. That alone was enough in my book.

I am under no illusions as to who Hillary was and her drawbacks,she made mistakes like anyone, she wasn't infallible, but she also wasn't the evil plotting, incompetent villain that's portrayed on this board either.
In office Clinton is a typical neoliberal of decent competency and above-average hawkishness. In other words, par for the course for 1992-2015. That's not a good thing, but I don't think she's "evil", and she's only a plotting villain when it comes to her 2008 and 2016 presidential campaigns and how she attempted to consolidate power for herself behind closed doors.

She entrenched us in Afghanistan, propping up very little in terms of central government-building; fukked up with Haiti, fukked up with North Korea, fukked up with Pakistan, pushed unnecessary opposition with the remains of the pink-tide countries, literally fukked up Libya, and a variety of other things.

She didn't do as much damage as Colin Powell or Henry Kissinger - but that is nothing to be proud of.
I forgot to include that she regularly solicited advice from Henry fukking Kissinger. :mjlol:

I wouldn't stretch to call her "evil." At least, not without arguing that there are a variety of neoliberal actors that have been celebrated in the US who also qualify as "evil."

championed women's rights across the world.
Stop drinking the koolaid.

She accepted donations from her friends the Saudis & Brunei & other oppressive regimes that stone women & rape women for being raped.

What you know of Hillary has nothing to do with Hillary.
You just know what her marketing & PR team wants you to know.

What koolaid? She never championed womens rights?

Was her support of the Saudi's hypocritical? Yes?

Any reason why Hillary gets more vitriol on this board that any other politicians you guys support that exhibit the same duplicitous behaviour?

She was actually a good Secretary of state as well
She was good and she was popular. They're re-writing history at this point.

Nah, writing history. This shyt just happened, ain't even been time to "rewrite" it yet.

Let's check the scoreboard so far.

Negative
* regularly sought advice from Henry Kissinger
* heavily pushed the Afghanistan surge
* heavily pushed the Libya disaster
* big proponent of arming rebels in Syria
* pushed for more troops in Iraq
* cozied up to the Saudis
* accepted major donations to her foundation from tyrannical regimes while she was serving as Secretary of State
* fukked up with Haiti
* fukked up with North Korea
* fukked up with Pakistan
* mishandled the response to Benghazi
* mishandled her emails

No one has denied any of that. Now, on the other side

Positive
Normalised relations with Cuba (false, happened later and she played no known role)
Championed women's rights across the world (and accomplished what?)
Brought Iran to the negotiating table (half-true, Iran didn't come to the negotiating table until after her term)

That's the tale of the tape so far. That's what history will judge her on. You're free to try to even up those ledgers but it ain't looking good.

A lot of these are your personal positions on her as SOS.

But the fact remains she was extremely popular after her stint and that led her to being the Dem nominee.

:comeon:

They're all facts easy to research...

Hillary was on the wrong side of history 75% of the time...

That's the reality Shilltards never want to acknowledge, just like she doesn't want to acknowledge she lost 2016 because of her poor voting record in the senate, appalling run as SOS and lazy ass campaign...

You're attempting to argue something different. Hillary was well like followed her stint as SOS.

PolitiFact - Hillary Clinton's approval ratings as secretary of state were high, but they're not now

It peaked at 62 percent during her first years as first lady, dropped to 43 percent in 1996 during the "Travelgate" investigation, and spiked to its highest point ever — 67 percent — in December 1998 when her husband was impeached for perjury in the wake of scandals involving Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones. By the time she left the White House in 2001, Clinton's Gallup rating was down to 44 percent.

Her polling numbers started going up during her time in the Senate and hit another peak of 58 percent in 2007 while a senator and just after announcing she would run for president, according to Gallup.

After another dip, it shot up to 65 percent in 2009 when she became secretary of state and stayed high for most of her tenure.

In two polls taken in 2011 and 2012, she was viewed favorably by 66 percent, making her more popular than President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

When she left that position on Feb. 1, 2013, 64 percent had a favorable view of her. Her rating has since declined in the wake of criticism over security at the consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and controversy over how she handled her emails.

Clinton's campaign pointed us to other polling data. A Washington Post-ABC News poll put her favorability at 67 percent as she was winding down as secretary of state and preparing to testify in a Benghazi hearing. A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll conducted at the same time put her approval rating at 69 percent.
