I know Universal suits tried to appease Jordan Peele after losing out on Weapons by handing him this film. I bet the first time he saw this was at the premier like 'get my name away from this bullshyt '
I’ll check it Sunday but I can’t even blame the studio for marketing it such way after seeing some of these reviews.
I think Peele will be fine. His actual directorials carry a certain brand of mystique and I highly doubt they would ever put up rotten scores of this magnitude.

I think Peele will be fine seeing as he had no writing or directing credits on this. Say what you want about homie, but I highly doubt his directorials will ever put up rotten scores of this magnitude.
Who has said he wouldn't be fine? His producer credits for films he has not directed is meh, then again he may just be a producer in name only, either way his name is on this film so he has to take the L
I seen someone online say Tyriq only had two ranges in this film confused and goofy or something like that but the more I think on it that dude seems like a hater. Without spoiling there’s a reason he’s that way and it makes sense after a certain part.
Seen someone mention something a lot of critics seem to be missing and I’m assuming this is cause they’re overwhelmingly white is this film is also a speaking about how the sports world treats biracial athletes. Specifically half black half white ones, and how black athletes navigate after a certain point. Biracial athletes are this kind of show dog and the media love them cause they’re marketable.
Like Marlon’s character Isiah White, marries a white social media influencer and he makes mention of a terrible childhood. Then finale spoiler ahead,
we see his wife Elsie is in on the demonic ritual, in the very beginning we see her in the locker room with White during the the final win he had. She was an either “given” to him as part of the deal or was his handler to a degree for the owners.
We juxtapose that with Tyriq’s character Cam who is with his high school sweetheart who’s black and she tells him she’ll love him no matter what even if he ain’t a baller due to the injury. Both Elsie and Cam’s gf are ride or die but for different reasons
A lot of these themes are gonna fly over white folks heads cause they’ll never truly understand the inequality between being black vs being white. Thoughts are still a bit jumbled but the more I think and read up this is a bit deeper than folks giving it credit. Also, I don’t usually go into this much depth analyzing the media I watch so this is a bit new to me, but this story really stuck with me.
Lastly I don’t think the black and white themes in the movie is an accident as the director Tipping grew up around black people. All this to say, I believe if your black you’re going to get a lot more from this film.
It’s going to be one of those horrors films that get lost in the shuffle and forgotten about when looking at 2025, which has been fantastic for horror.
I just thought this was all over the place
I couldn’t really believe this world on the first watch
I hated the ending lol
Just overall bad writing imo
The pros are
Original idea
Marlon did his thing
And it looked visually pleasing
