This needed to be an A24/Neon flick. Im actually annoyed because its so much shyt this could go idepth on. If anything it would have been better to make this an anthology or follow a group of rookies trying to make a roster with each rookies journey circling on a theme. shyt even a one season mini series

What does this have to do with CTE/ his head injury? It was a sacrifice storyline, yeah I got that. He walked away. Got that. They were injecting him with Marlon’s DNA??? They were giving him a blood transfusion with Marlon’s blood….

I just need some loose ends tied up.

Again. Movie wasn’t terrible, just need some further explanation. I think maybe it should have been a bit longer to tie things up. A 7 day camp on top of Cam’s backstory wasn’t paced good enough IMO.

The cte angle could be all the hallucinations and if what he does in the final act is even real.

The blood aspect is the blood of Christ.

Cross posting. We just got back from 'Him'. The best way I can describe this is that it was a lot of interesting/intriguing ideas and imagery but it fell short on execution. I liked a lot of the themes they are playing around with here, Jesus vs. Satan dynamic and imagery, comparisons of the combine and the NFL being a plantation for athletes, head trauma, parental trauma, etc. but I just didn't think they were able to land the plane of any of the ideas. It felt like a lot was happening but at the same time nothing was happening. I will say it's not as bad as some made it out to be and my date loved it but she's also an English major so she's looking at it through that lens.

:sadcam: Lol alright, I'll be honest. When I said it I thought peele directed it. I was still sold from the content and trailer, but yeah, they didn't commit to one (or even two) core points, and it was "good" rather than what could've been classic based on cast, tone, and performances.

A producer/directors cut could be outstanding. But this wasn't it.
