This is bullshyt. Look I love 90s hip hop like anyone else but we get these type of threads at the end of every year. Stop falling in love with nostalgia and yesteryear there is plenty of great music that has been released. If your too lazy to listen then get the fukk on.

It's crazy, I bet Grandmaster Caz,Furious Five,Kurtis Blow, and them was saying the SAME shyt smh

nikkas need to realize, that age is a huge factor in shyt...you think your parents gonna fukk with how you dress? of course not! grow the fukk up and respect the music that is out now OR listen to your fukking mp3's nikka, we live in an age that u can literally listen to WHATEVER you want, and ONLY what you want

im sorry but i dont respect this argument. age has nothing to do with it. for starters, im 27. this is my era. especially the years when these overhyped mid-00s albums dropped. i was 18-20 when game, jeezy, wayne, kanye, tip and all these dudes that are gassed in here were peaking. alot of that chit was hot but theyre not classics.

the furious five era dudes respected the eras that came after them. thats the difference. nobody respects most of this era unless youre a kid who doesnt know any better and this is all you know. and the real problem is that corporate america f**ked everything up. but people are too busy reveling in ignorance to acknowledge this.

also, outside of the over-the-top baggy clothes that alot of my peers(and sometimes myself) wore when we were coming up, our style wasnt much different than what our parents were wearing. it was mostly herb parents that would be completely :mindblown:. other than that, only grandparents really gave static about the wardrobes. i mean, look at a dude like rakim if you want an idea of what im talking about. he would fit right in with one of my parents' barbeques.

the overall underlining point of that rant is that this isnt like past eras where your parents came up on completely different music and completely different times. this is the SAME MUSIC and the world hasnt changed that much either.

and for the record, im not in here reppin no '90s flag. alot of these dudes in here yappin on & on about the '90s are just as bad. only difference is that the '90s was a superior era to whats going on now so they get a pass.

age is a factor, maybe even the deciding factor. Maybe even where you was raised as well, depending on what region you grew up to.Maybe that era respected the generation that came after, but as time went on, the respect level decreased. shyt, even Pac aint respect/fukk with them "lil nikkas"(his own words)..i.e. Nas,Prodigy.......the whole wardrobe shyt, i guess it does depend on who raises you. 80% of people have herb parents though so consider yourself lucky. my kids been raised by arguably the illest nikka living, but will they wear the same shyt who knows what the fukk they would like and whats popping then....i should've rephrasedmy argument, it's not AGE , it's just TIME in general..time changes/heals all, so anything that was popping 2 years ago ain't popping now, anything that wasnt popping is popping now, and any problems nikkas was having with music is changing now.

tm101 & documentary were vital albums for their time but theyre not classics.

paper trail was AVERAGE.

MBDTF was garbo.

You don't think that tm101 could be a classic? Documentary is definitely a classic but I'm torn on tm101...I called it a classic for so long, but after listening to it, it doesn't have that "wow" factor because so many songs were leaked early, guest appearances were weak, etc.... That's a good convo for another thread

nah. they dont hold up with real classics. theyre vital albums for their time.

they wouldnt make much noise in better eras.

that pac chit with nas & mobb deep has absolutely no correlation to what we're talking about here.:what:

and homie, im 27. alot of the current rappers that get idolized on here are older than me, some are much older. what does that tell you?

and as far as these mid-00s albums go. i was fresh outta high school. i wasnt no oldhead.

it has nothing to do with age. this era just isnt respected at all. and the more you continue to brush it off as an age thing, the worst things will get.
