The first half of HHID is pretty much classic. Really cohesive and true to the theme of the album. 2nd half of the album, not so much unfortunately. Seems like I only listened to still dreamin (classic) on the back half of the album. If there was others I don't remember them.

I'm thinking the label was rushing it, so he just threw on a bunch of songs that he recorded at the time to fill out he rest of the album and it lost its focus.

I don't recall Nas talking about this album much in interviews since it dropped.

Maybe @lifeisgood can speak on this album.

The 6
3.5-4 mics. With such a grand album title I expected better.

The best tracks IMO are:
Money Over Bullshyt
Carry On Tradition
Hiphop is Dead
Black Republican
Still Dreaming
Blunt Ashes
Play on Playa
Hustlers

I'd call Money Over Bullshyt and Still Dreaming classic tracks.

The version of Hope (sample included) wouldve enhanced the album and was a more cohesive piece. Yes, seems like it was rushed and the first half sticks with the comfort. The Where are we Now remixes were cool too. The fact that it did not stick closer to the theme, thus including non-related tracks is what, for me, makes it a 4 mic album. Untitled and LIG did at much better job at stick closer to the theme.

:russ: at anything in Nasir's catalogue other than Illmatic being anywhere near 5 mics. And this is coming from a true fan. That album was all over the place. Got murdered by snoop, kanye, and jay on his own shyt. The lead single was wack. He flipped that sample way better on thiefs theme anyway. I give it 3 mics. Nas is one of my favorite Mc's of all time but he has disappointed and underchieved more often than not. I know Im going to get crucified on this board for this post.

:heh: And Your'e really blaming Def Jam. They did an excellent job promoting that mess. If Hiphop died in 06, He sure didn't give it life with that weedplate. He dropped 3 duds back to back. Starting from Streets Disciple to Untitled. While I appreciate the message and effort, the execution just wasnt there with Untitled. Lyrically he brought it. But the production left a alot to be desired. People seem to forgot. This is Hiphop, dope beats and rhymes. Your message means nothing if the music ain't banging.
