As most of you know the market for Hip Hop websites are countless. With that said there are only a few websites out there that I really visit. These are the sites I go to most often:
The-Coli.com : For its Forum and community of members and the great discussions about Hip Hop and smiley's
WSHH : For general ratchetness and the occasional music video
Datpiff : Mixtapes
HNHH: For new music that has dropped
Rapradar: Music and News
Thisis50: Mostly for the original content ie. (Interviews, etc)
Mediafakeout: Gossip (But I f*ckin hate this site due to the ads and shytty writing).
Youtube: Pretty much as a search engine to find music videos that are hard to find and great quality and for audio
That's pretty much it. Anyway the reason I made this thread is for 2 reasons. 1) I want to know where your guys go to for your Hip Hop Needs. 2) What do you feel is missing or what could be done better? The reason I am asking this is because I am looking to make a site that will fit this void that is present online. I have been thinking about doing a better Mixtape site cuz Datpiff to me has fallen off and its too cluttered with crap and ads. Also its mobile version sucks and I want to make something better and easy and simple to use. What are your thoughts? What are you looking for in a Website? What are some problems you experience online?

Why Rating was given (Decline or Rise)
- Although Datpiff is the Number 1 site for mixtapes. I personally feel that they have done little to improve the functionality of the site. Unless mixtape is sponsored user must log in to download mixtape content. The search aspect of the site is poor, and there are so many unofficial releases of mixtapes it is hard to find what you want. Too much low quality content. No artist profiles. Cluttered layout.
- WSHH has been the Number 1 Hip Hop site for past several years. Unfortunately they have done little to change the look and feel of the site. Seems to me that the site solely focuses on getting ads and user submitted videos rather to the actual content the site displays. WSHH was the online destination for music videos, but seems people rather focus on fighting and twerk videos than actual music. Layout seems extremely outdated. Great for watching weird random videos that originate from Liveleak.com .
- AHH has a unique layout, and their content is ok, mostly regurgitated from other sites and blogs. Very little original content, and rarely has music exclusives. Kinda of mad I mentioned this site in the first place.
- Rapradar although I hate their layout (Too Common) I love the fact they are one of the few sites to post content first. They have done of good job of building relationships within the industry and sometimes seem to favor certain artists over others. Elliot Wilson although annoying in videos does a great job in networking for the site. I look forward to see more special segments like CRWN, and The Truth. Would like to see more exclusive interviews.
- Thisis50 has for awhile to me been an extremely lazy website. I am greatly fond of their Jack Thriller Interviews and other segments, but too me the site has been a great disappointment. The site is more of a 50 cent fan page with occasional exclusives from other artists. New Music and Videos are posted on the site very slowly, and the site doesn’t seem to have great relationships with other artists. I feel Thisis50 has the potential to turnaround but needs the right curators in place for content selection. Also Ning profile is annoying, and having to join to view comments is maddening.
- Mediafakeout is pure shyt. Layout, Content, Everything about that site is shyt. The layout use to be original but has remain the same for years. Stories 90% of the time are completely fabricated, and the writing style is extremely poor. Pop-up ads are very annoying. Site seems like a place to get viruses rather than breaking news or gossip.
- HNHH was a breath of fresh air when it first went live about 2 years ago. The site does a great job of making it easy to find new music and the occasional mixtape. With that said, I feel the owners are doing too much. Too many features, and content from other sites (Owned by the same owner of HNHH) Site seems to clustered with options. Needs to focus on what made the site popular to begin with.
- The-Coli is one of the best finds for me online. They provide an easy to use platform for communicating with other people. The smileys are what make The Coli the best forum over all others. I love the content provided by the members of the community. Overall a great site. Would like to see better homepage maybe with select topics so non members can have glimpse of what the coli has to offer. Overall very original.
