ATL is the only place that has a real scene, some of the newer Cali guys work with each other but its not the same. NYC has been every man for himself for years, and it hurt the music

you mean nationally? the bay always had a collaborative scene, LA has gotten there in the past 5 years, houston always had that, south FL had it for a second...atl isn't doing anything that hasn't been done in that regard

production wise atlanta helped quite a bit. There's still some nice beats from that section of the world.


but rapping wise, a lot of the new atlanta rappers are really low on the spectrum and rely on melody to make shyt hot. it doesn't work more often than it does. I might as well listen to the instrumental or another genre.

Their production was helped thanks to the damn sampling laws that hindered the east coast rap scene. 808s are simple and easy to make to the point where you got posters in here making beats.
