Being honest,if someone doesn't get a grip on the immigration situation in the UK then this nice cuddly eccentric chap will probably be replaced by someone much more unpleasant.
The racism that there used to be in the UK's immigation argument is so 80's and 90's, you know dog shyt through the letter box, paki bashing, etc etc, these days it's much more mainstream, and is all about pressures on housing, the employment market social welfare the health service etc etc. It doesn't make sense if you have over a million young unemployed to bring in scores more unskilled labour .unless of course you are latte drinking liberal who likes cheap builders for the property extensions or cheap nannies or some corporate big wig who wants cheap labour.
The left in the UK have really shot themselves in the foot over this, the working classes no longer identify with the traditional socialist party ,and they can't vote tory because of what thatcher did to the northern communities? so where does that vote go? That is what the poltical classes are frightened to death about. People who have never voted in their lives are now voting UKIP. An odd alliance of idealistic lefties and big business opened the doors to millions of unskilled foreign workers to come to the UK, and they essentially poisoned the good will of the British people.
Sure it might save a few pennies when you go to the supermarket,.... but at what cost? in terms of intolerance, racism, and social disorder, you put living beings in a tight enclosed space, make them compete for resources , then add religion into the mix and what do you get? It isn't rocket science, now right now the majority of decent british people blame politicans for the messnot the immigrants, not minority communities , and that nice chap nigel farage in my opinion thinks that way too, But ,it won't take much for that attitude to change. and farage and UKIP may well be a kind of conduit, for really extreme but very clever politicians to get a toe hold and we end up with something like golden dawn in the UK.
That is why, when I hear screams of 'racist',by the usual suspects when a british person who's parents ,grandparents or great grandparents may have fought in the world wars,who paid their taxes all their lives, dares to voice concerns about their communities changing in not over a long period but sometimes less than a decade , these usual suspects really need to be very careful.Because they might end up swinging from a lampost, or herded behind barbed wire. When you get overcrowding, when money is tight, when you get people of different cultures and beliefs maybe conflicting against a majority ,it can be an explosive mix, and very easy for the right charismatic man to exploit. And women would vote for a fascist in their droves especially a nice looking one , always have done through history.They love government control,the feeling of security and strong men.
