Man, I lost count, lol.

Seems like he's been dropping a couple every damn month.

Yeah every time I’m on YouTube I see him doing promo with somebody

I ask because the yasiin and Badu albums are what I was anticipating but yet again, the albums not being already released is a testament to both yasiin’s and Badu’s dragging of their feet

Both those albums should’ve been came out

yasiin’s should’ve come out in the spring and Badu’s should’ve dropped when her and Alc did the Drink Champs interviews

I really don’t get why it takes these nikkas so long to just release their music

I wish nikkas like yasiin and Badu had that Gucci Mane mentality of work ethic

No coincidence that the two "neo-soul-ish" artists are the only two albums ALC has had trouble with getting out the door.

Mos and Badu are weirdos. Alchemist got a million people waiting on doing projects with him. He ain't got time to wait around for those two.

Yup and you know, when it was announced that they were working with Alc, I thought “this is good because it means the albums will come out and on time at the date announced” but nope!

Yeah I really don’t get it

I get respecting your art and integrity but it’s like “step off your high horse” and actually release the music you’ve recorded

More than music, I’d be more interested in a documentary on yasiin bey (the music, the movies and then the abrupt “retirement”, the move overseas etc etc)

Because his career moves and decisions have been a real interesting one

You nailed it. This is exactly what came into my head when the Badu shyt got delayed, and then knowing what happened with the mos Def shyt.

Its weird tho cos alc and erykah on drink champs, alc sounded way more insecure working with her .. I dunno why these weirdos gotta act out like this.

I think maybe erykah saw the realest remix feedback and started second guessing shyt. What's mos Def excuse tho?

Man Badu went on a whole press run and tour just to pump fake on the day of. She's just a talented bird

Exactly!

I really don’t get it

I see nikkas like Gucci who go through hell and back and still prevail and find a way to remain focused on their craft and release the music.

I get that not everybody is cut from the same cloth and all but it’s like damn, to actually start doing press for an album only to then retreat is not a good look.

I really thought with Alchemist doing the bulk of producing, she along with yasiin would have their albums out on time.

I guess not. smh

I noticed alot of the black creative artists are like that. Its like paralysis by analysis

Dangelo
Andre3000
Sade
Lauryn
Badu
Mos

All of these people that get the genius label seem to not want to release shyt. Dangelos baby mama said he was mad his label releases Black Messiah. Many of those songs was 10 years old.

Yup

I’m sure it’s intimating once that that type of spotlight is on you and the industry, fans and critics are looking at you as the answer to all things and seek your music as guidance, enjoyable, fun, powerful, moving then you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and that’s a lot of pressure

I knew that a lot of those songs from Black Messiah were old because I remember hearing “Really Love” and “1,000 Deaths” years before they came out.

I also remember ?uestlove saying years before Black Messiah, how D’Angelo had a lot of the music done, it was like instrumentals without much lyrics and that he still needed to finish writing the songs.

Agreed on all except Sade, her hiatus blocks involve letting her band eat and staying mentally sane with family/personal time (not going crazy/getting depressed from the industry, being forced to release music not meeting her expectations and etc) and the fact whenever she/they do drop there is a heavy world tour to go with the album.

I said the same, bro.

The minute I saw that people weren't f*cking with that song, I knew Badu was gonna vanish and some f*ckery with the album was gonna happen. That track wasn't what the people wanted. But these weirdo artists would rather disappear on their fans than just drop something else better.

That beat for Groupie Love is stuck in my head. Haven't listened to the album in a week due to just being on the run, but a lot of the beats have been popping up in my mind randomly. Show Me the Way is another one. That's how I know I really like an album...when it sticks in my mind for a good minute.

It's good beats, solid rhymes, good chemistry between the artists. I'll always check for Hit Boy and Alchemist, together or solo.
