I was coming in here to say :comeon:

But, I can't be the only who seen those random commericial playing Sir Mix Alot and Vanilla Ice's claim to fame.

However, a CLASSIC is everlasting and praised decades after decades.

its funny that you mention these artists, seeing that they themselves arent too fond of the things that theyre noted for.

i watched a mix-a-lot performance from like 10 years ago, and before he performed "posse on broadway", he greatly emphasized the fact that he was caking off of that song before "baby got back" came out.

i remember tone loc on a documentary talking about how he wished more people knew that he could actually spit, instead of being known for just his crossover hits. theres a number of artists like him who share the same sentiments.

How about both? :yeshrug:

Hit records and Classic albums should go hand in hand. But honestly, I'd rather have multiple hits than have a classic album.... because then I'd be able to release a greatest hits compilation. :jawalrus:

look at the rappers in the middle. the ones that have a bunch of hits and their albums arent classic but still respected so they can still tour. rappers like eminem, nelly, ludacris, busta rhymes, etc.

all those rappers have a monkey on their back and still feel like they have something to prove.

But this is hard to judge because there's no such thing as a classic that's accepted by all. Because at the end of the day, something being "classic" is an opinion.

But hits are something that are undeniable

Man you gotta be the whiniest bytchiest poster on this motherfukker

Why cant you just listen to your little bubble gum music and shut the fukk up?????? :why:

:usure: Was I right or wrong?

What if you have a classic album full of hit records:troll:

Take Care:bow:
:wtf: Id rather be where Nas is (creatively doing music his way while at the same time outselling these young punks) than a D4L..:pachaha:

Nas is the exception to the rule.

If you make a thread on how is it possible Nas is able to stay relevant no there would be all kinds of opinions

The OP is vague

Common - Got a few classic albums and many very good ones, no smash hits. Eating.

Ludacris - No classic albums, but a handful of good albums and some big hits. Eating.

Flo-Rida/Pitbull - No classic albums, ain't heard em but probably okay at best. International hits every year. Eating.

Compare a nikka with a top 10 hit to the cult-favorite Internet rapper who moves 30k after a year then you on point but on an even playing not necessarily cause everybody got they lane.

I would rather have a classic album anyday..

Just because tyga has money to buy a 6.5 million dollar house dosent mean he'll be able to maintain it.

A classic album will have you getting overseas tour money and future royalties when a beatmaker/producer/rapper starts sampling your music

look at how many samples came off eric b and rakim's paid in full..

now the way the game is set up,if you get 3 top 10 hits in your life, the extra endorsements bring extra bread..but you gotta be hella lucky
