@adonnis - pull up, there's refreshments
Ya but sometimes artists want to be or who they are mysterious...if not, then that's why me and most people get tired of artists, because we know them so well..if you dont have nothing new to add and nothing else to say, just retire..
There's a time and place for everything. If somebody just happened to write it without theory than I wouldn't be analyzing their work in an in-depth manner. There's genius within every hit song, almost mathematical . . when I hear people look at a hit song and talk about how it just shows that "it takes no talent to make it" that's usually a reflection of a simple mind . . definitely someone who has no expertise in songwriting, and when it is a songwriter who says something like that it's almost always a songwriter with no credentials
Have you heard the song Diamonds by Rihanna . . notice her voice on the chorus sounds annoying?
The appeal to an annoying vocal performance is it tends to stick to the listeners mind longer -
So I'll use "Thrift Shop" as an example . . the chorus is very corny and annoying, in the music video they make use of an unattractive girl in the video as the chorus is playing . . this AUTOMATICALLY makes the verses more appealing. This allows his style to be put on display. It gives the song more replay value because the chorus takes up a smaller portion of the listening experience.
