Thanks! But I'm looking like these other dudes with more should be setting the bar higher by posting their accounts up.

:whoa: Problem is, some of us are in our late 30's with solid careers. Past a certain point, say 60k, posting up an account would just look like bragging. I think the point of this thread is that with discipline and determination, anyone can be financially well off. Look how far you've come in just a year. It's already inspirational, breh. Keep doing what you're doing.

This is what always bugs me ... I save like crazy, but the money is just sitting there ... depreciating in value even ... sometimes i feel like i'm being dumb for hoarding all this cash and not doing anything useful with it. keep in mind that i'm completely retarded when it comes to investment, having your money grow passively ... etc. shyt looks like gamblling too me. where would y'all recommend i start ... and like i said remember i don't know ANYTHING, so a lot of terminology y'all use is jargon to me (bonds, mutual funds, etc ... makes no sense to me). keep it as simple as reasonably possible, because sometimes i feel like saving is some sucka shyt i'm sorry to say.
Look into betterment breh. Just opened a 'Safety Net' account with them.

I'm the same way. I got over 35K in savings and 0 debt since I didn't go to college. I feel like I should be doing something with this but I'm not ready to just trust any old scheme or financial plan that comes my way.

Thanks! But I'm looking like these other dudes with more should be setting the bar higher by posting their accounts up. It will inspire us all to save better :manny: Just seeing another man with 90k in savings can inspire others to save as well. Knowing this, I made the thread in hope to inspire, not brag ( nearly repped and dapped the entire 1st page) . Looks like most can see that so :salute:to all
most of my money is in investments.

i need to open a savings account, but the rates are :scust:

ally is the best at 1% right now but still

plus i got no debt :kawhiblessed:

@GunRanger roth ira will likely be after 6k mark so I can start with 1k from that to start it up. My current job doesn't offer it.
i'd start as soon as possible. you dont need your employer to do it, since it's after-tax income.

For those that want to invest please talk to someone that is a professional. There is a lot of misinformation being said on here.

Also you shouldn't be investing ANYTHING until you have built up your savings account/side bank account to 6 months living expenses...pay YOURSELF first. This means if you spend on average 2000 a month you need at LEAST 12k in a savings account. Anything ABOVE that you can look into options to invest but until you get your savings in order don't even dabble in investing...

Normally I'd agree, but with retirement planning, every year you wait is a missed opportunity.

It just doesn't make sense to think of retirement when you barely have enough side funds to last you a couple of months on the off chance that you get canned by your employer.

& especially for the average person on the coli ... I'd rather they have their F*** YOU MONEY in place before starting to gamble with their cash.

Lastly, how long would it really take to build up some eff you reserves? Just gotta be frugal and stack for like a year. But then again that depends on what your living situation and debt situation is.

It's never too early to think about retirement but you're right. Gotta make sure the basics are covered first.

This. I suggest reading kiplingers magazine or just go their website to get money advice. They are the best investment magazine ive read. Check your local library for updated issues

Basically, how most people play games on their phones, I do the same with my money. Let me explain. When I'm just sitting around, ill (restaurant, library, waiting room, home etc) login to my mobile banking app and just take chunks out of my checking at a time. For example, Ill see 321.93 in my checking and take out eithe 21.93 making it 300, 6.93 making it 315 or even as small as 1.93 making it 320 remaining (have an obsession with complete even/odd numbers:manny:) based on my expected use of funds. Basically, I charge myself microtransactions like banks do overdraft fees...I figured a while back that I could just do that shyt to myself and keep the funds :pachaha:

I just opened up a savings account and Ima do the shyt you did breh :salute:

I'll put this is spoiler tags but here's what I have in accts today. Just some things to keep in mind:

- I'm an old head on these boards
- I've made some wise real estate investments in the past couple of years
- I'm fortunate to have a well paying job
- I got lucky and was able to leverage a home that my parents sold me for below-market value, so I'm just fortunate to have a family that is looking out for me--I don't want to come off like I'm better than other people, i'm just lucky

My advice to people who want to people who get their hands on some paper:

- don't be afraid to invest if you see a good opportunity. best bet is real estate.
- find a reasonable number per month and save that. if you can save $1,000/month, you'd per surprised how quickly that can accumulate
- always look for a better job. don't get comfortable anywhere
- don't waste your money on cars or depreciating assets. fukk an image.
