I'll put this is spoiler tags but here's what I have in accts today. Just some things to keep in mind:

- I'm an old head on these boards
- I've made some wise real estate investments in the past couple of years
- I'm fortunate to have a well paying job
- I got lucky and was able to leverage a home that my parents sold me for below-market value, so I'm just fortunate to have a family that is looking out for me--I don't want to come off like I'm better than other people, i'm just lucky

My advice to people who want to people who get their hands on some paper:

- don't be afraid to invest if you see a good opportunity. best bet is real estate.
- find a reasonable number per month and save that. if you can save $1,000/month, you'd per surprised how quickly that can accumulate
- always look for a better job. don't get comfortable anywhere
- don't waste your money on cars or depreciating assets. fukk an image.

yea I have multiple 401k accts with about 50K in them. I've been a little hesitant putting too much money in them as i've seen huge losses in the past few years. i'm expecting another bubble burst so I don't want to lose a ton of money again.

Good shyt. Some quick advice... take 10k out of that checking and open up a ROTH IRA. Fill it with Vanguard funds. Gold is gonna be hot the next few years. Don't worry about bubble bursts in retirement (unless you're OLD like 55+).

All my shyt is in retirement accounts totaling $100K. Savings accounts are pretty pointless to me with these wack interest rates. Rather than put money away for a rainy day, I went ham on 401K. At this point if I invest modestly, I'll be straight for retirement.

Did have $75K in liquid savings after selling condo but that shyt about to go into buying another house.

Hopefully y'all with these huge savings accounts are making dents in your credit cards and school loan balances

i need to open a savings account, but the rates are :scust:

ally is the best at 1% right now but still

plus i got no debt :kawhiblessed:

i'd start as soon as possible. you dont need your employer to do it, since it's after-tax income.

How much of that is from gambling :lolbron:

good look...I'll check out that Vanguard fund. if i'm not mistaken I think I had some money in Vanguard some years ago

btw I just had an argument over the US abandoning the gold standard and adopting the fiat standard back in the early 70's. i think Gold, considering it's value in the international markets, will always be a smart buy since it's a non-inflatable currency.

stay off my lawn nikka :old::old::old: :angry::angry:

i'm a gov't contractor in DC...

best way to make money?...live at home, accept a loser's life, and save up about $1000/month for 5 years. That's 60K you've saved up in your 20's if you play your cards right. Use that 60K and make some minor real estate deals in places like baltimore, detroit, atlanta. Be a landlord for a few years if possible, and then hire a property mgmt company to oversee your properties.

I know that sounds basic as hell, but if you're willing to concede luxuries in your 20's, you can live pretty in your 30's

Great advice, thx. I've been frugal this year and have been saving at least 1k a month, plus roth IRA and other investments. I wanna be like you when I grow up :blessed:
