How is the Free Speech subforum working? There's always complaining about the state of this forum, have things gotten any better? Any suggestions or requests?

I like it quite a bit so far. Personally I wish the mods would let the :troll: threads I make in HL stick around just a little longer, but it's a good system so far.

Some people might not like that we can't criticise religion in HL anymore, or that more 'tinfoil' stuff gets moved there, but whatever.

Imo free speech should only be reserved for threads about matters that don't deal in factual/empirical data...conspiracy, metaphysics, spirituality, pseudoscience, and the like.

Religion as well, but only threads in which people want to debate the meaning and truth of religion itself. The way it is now, any thread that has anything to do with religion gets sent there and that's overkill. There are legitimate news stories that deal in religion; academic studies on religion, religious laws passed by governments, stuff like that should stay in HL.

Let people talk freely. This forum isn't a lecture hall. Most people here like to joke and clown a bit. Just don't let personal attacks go too far. If someone wants to make a thread about John Boehner crying, let it stay. Just move the tinfoil hat/smartdumb/pseudoscience/religious flame war stuff to FS.

It's ok I guess...what exactly were people complaining about in the first place? Trolling? 'Cism? Catching feelings due to religion/race/etc threads? Threads being derailed?

Mods are too quick to throw a thread in Free Speech after a few complaints from their favorite posters.

Case in example is the mess that was the Flight 370 thread. Right in the middle when it was still breaking news and a hot story, the mods threw the thread in Free Speech after the OP complained about people speaking of conspiracy theories. The uproar by the posters was loud and clear and thankfully the mods put the thread back in HL.

Seems fine to me . But just one little suggestion. Maybe you could have a separate section just for news so it doesn't get lost in the piles of articles that flood the HL section.

THE PEOPLE WHO COMPLAINED THE LOUDEST ABOUT CENSORSHIP DON'T WANT TO USE THE CENSORSHIP-FREE FREE SPEECH SUBFORUM AT ALL, IT SEEMS, BROTHER!
Yup. You can post literally whatever you want in there. I have a couple threads in there and read on the daily, its a good divide :manny:

Originally I was hating on it but its made HL a better experience.
