New study also finds that electricity is a thing and that water is wet

:stopitslime:

No one cares about the opinions of Coli nikkas. Your responses just further highlight the importance of media ownership :pachaha:

You can scream till you're blue in the face...you'll just be a coli militant. Cacs do a study and it gets airtime.

I'm not suggesting that hispanics are only watching spanish stations, just like black folks are not only watching BET, that is silly
I'm talmbowt the same caucasian imagery being promoted in hollywood, isn't that the same imagery on spanish channels?

More or less, but the Spanish media audience is much more homogeneous whereas the mainstream media is not, so you're comparing apples and oranges here.

I don't know what you're expecting out of a discussion board. We're out here responding to something we already know by having fun with sarcasm and you think we're mad or militant?

The coli itself is an example of black media ownership. Users here generate their own content and the coli is a platform for sharing that media and spreading it through the internet.

In short:

I was being sarcastic myself. We ALL knew this...but who was listening?

And did you you compare theColi.com to billion dollar media powerhouses?

:what:
prove it and explain

You can't admit similarities at white washing between media entities, but then say they different

:beli: Are you really saying that the American mainstream media isn't assumed to have the largest, broadest audience not only in this country, but the entire world? And that Spanish language media isn't going to be reflective of it's much more homogeneous audience?

It's not really damaging to have characters reflective of your audience. However, as seen by this study, the American mainstream media is pushing the idea that only white people exist and they're certainly the only ones to exist in heroic, leading roles. The Spanish language media caters to their audience, which by and large looks like them in comparison to how the American Mainstream media does it. The American mainstream media exists to stroke the egos of the dominant power structure in Hollywood. To give white people mental masturbation movies like "The Blind Side" or "The Help" or when they do include Hispanics, it's usually a hyper-sexualized femme fatale like Sofia Vergara getting married to Al Bundy. You see how it's not a valid comparison?

One thing at a time...prove and explain that the spanish audience is more homogeneous, thus the white washing by the spanish channels is more accurate to the audience

:comeon: I know this because the American mainstream is given to be the most influential in this country and the world in general, so it's going to have a broader audience than any other media outlet, which will be comparatively smaller and more homogenous. The Spanish language media caters to people who speak primarily Spanish. This is not rocket science. You're drawing a false equivalency here.

stop it. Don't narrow nothing down to just language

You just said this
The Spanish language media caters to their audience, which by and large looks like them in comparison to how the American Mainstream media does it.
prove and explain how white washing by spanish media, which you agreed earlier is similar to hollywood's tactics, is catering to an audience that mostly resembles white hispanics

:snoop: I misunderstood your original question. I thought when you meant certain Hispanic look, I thought you were speaking in a more general sense. Missed connection. There is a certain type of Hispanic look that is generally trended toward, but there are no statistics run on it like this. However, just because Spanish speaking media outlets are kinda/sorta guilty of the same thing, that doesn't mean that the American media isn't much, much worse.

"Generally trended to toward" is code language for promoting/pushing/conditioning/brainwashing the audience about the common look of "hispanics". Which is absurd because hispanics is not a race, and the various shades, heights, and features of a citizen in a spanish countries vary greatly to what spanish media promotes

So like hollywood controllers, the controllers of the spanish media is consciously choosing to promote their imagery and message and their offsprings' imagery and message

You can't complain about one form of white supremacist brainwashing campaign, while downplaying another white supremacist brainwashing campaign

Have you done much traveling to Spanish speaking countries? Do you have numbers that support your points? Of course you don't. In addition, I'll criticize the American mainstream media all I like because whether you wanna admit it or not, they're even more guilty of the same wrong. FOH with your lame excuses for this shyt.

If you see a:

Native American
Hispanic male
Or any type of Asian (Chinese, Indian etc.)
Middle Eastern

... In an American film. It's like 99.9 likely it's a ridiculing stereotypical role.

Black's are underrepresented, at least in positive roles, but those other groups basically don't exist at all in Hollywood. Another dart is...Sometimes the most interesting Black characters in American films/TV are played by Shakespearian trained Black actors from Britain.
