I listen back to this song and just think, "what if"

What if dude had never got all strung out on sherm and still had his right mind and could still write coherent rhymes/lyrics

Dude had the voice, the flow, the delivery etc

i've said it before and i'll say it again, if he could've released an album in like 99' when he was still rolling with RZA and had RZA and producers like 4th Disciple and True Master produce it, that shyt would've been the best thing since slice bread.

it would've been the best West Coast emcee rhyming over East Coast production album since Cube with The Bomb Squad and his AMW album in 1990

this will forever be one of the illest verses ever written and performed.

Yes his early verses with wu are incredible but even with the fall off

His first 2 albums have gems. Serious ones. And if you put all the wu shyt with some of those, you get a really really great collection of material.

And i really dig the blue sky black death album. The production fits with his style so good that I dont even mind the rambling. Sometimes his rambling is more than that tho. I remember when i realized he was rapping the plot of “I Am Legend” on one of the BSBD songs, it made me think perhaps theres more to meet the eye to a lot of his tracks

All his projects he did for cash with no names tho really sully what could have been.

Y'all go overboard with how good he was

His early guest verses were fire but his style was best served in small doses IMO

Even early on his shyt was too weird and leftfield to really make an impact. He was way more bugged out than Killah Priest who is himself a very niche artist

I don't see any version of Holocaust making a great album. Some rappers are best on the sidelines in groups or guest spots.

Sorry but with his ill fated lyrics etc he would not have been anything huge..he was in that same ball of web like the killah army and sunz of man brand if he was lucky?

no need to apology

definitely
yeah, he was never going to be a star

more of a revered lyricist/emcee among hip hop nerds of the time.

Best case scenario would have been him having a career like Priest did... which would have meant a hard underground grind for almost 2 decades.

Ghostface verse is better.

Holocaust was dope, and its a shame what happened, but that one verse is his best verse he ever spit. Meanwhile Ghostface has a better verse on the same song which isn't even generally considered one of Ghost's top 10 verses.

Also second the opinion that Holocaust likely wouldn't have killed a proper solo album anyway. He definitely deserved a lot more shine on posse cuts with other dope rappers though.

Thats what those Wu Killa Beez compilations should've been: wayyyy more posse cuts showcasing the best of the underclass clashing. Shoulda been 4 or 5 appearances for each of the doper undercards like Holocaust & Killa Sin & Inspectah Deck & Cappadonna that had unfulfilling solo careers but would have kept killing it on more posse cuts

These are the best songs from his double debut

Hes similar to killa sin and deck how they all can kill a 16, writing a song complete is diff tho.

Imo with better production he could have made a great solo no doubt. These 6 ive loved for years.

Prod by math

That last joint you posted “40s and Blunts” is Holocaust at his best.

Them songs from his albums Nightmares That Surface Shallow Sleep and Smugglin’ in the Graveyard weren’t good at all. I remember getting those albums in the 2000’s and being so disappointed
