A nipple is still a big deal in America. People still get offended by women breast feeding in public.

He turned on her because his camp applied pressure and he cowardly gave in. Had he refused to go to The Grammys or even stood by her, he still could've had a thriving career either way. Janet on the other hand, had much more to lose for three reasons: her sex, her race, and the fact that she was an aging star in Pop music. To them, she was expendable.
I agree that people still do make a big deal about it that in America, like you said though I don't think he had to throw her under the bus to remain successful

It was supposed to reveal her bra. Her breast got exposed and the media overreacted and made a BIG deal about it attacking Janet. At first when they asked him about it he was all cool about it. But when they caught backlash he completely turned on her and threw her under the bus for it. Her career never fully recovered from that shyt. She was icon status and she’s barely even respected as such now. Meanwhile u got bytches like Madonna exposing her saggy ass titties any chance she gets with no backlash at all. Janet >>>>>> all these bytches performance and album wise.

This video summarizes the backlash but it doesn't even cover the tip of the iceberg.

Disneyworld even removed their Rhythm Nation statue because of the controversy.

This was never a Prince diss. Prince had his highest chart debut with the 3121 album months before Justin even dropped Futuresex/Lovesounds let alone before "Give It To Me" dropped or was even recorded. It debuted at #1 in March 2006. So the whole

We missed you on the charts last week, damn, that's right, you wasn't there
If s-sexy never left, then why is everybody on my shi-i-it?
Don't hate on me just because you didn't come up with it
So if you see us in the club, go on and walk the other way
'Cause our run will never be over, not at least until we say

^^^ could not have been shots at Prince. As clout chasing as Timbaland can be, I doubt he would've signed off on a Prince diss considering Prince is his idol. Every shot on this song except Tim's jabs at Scott Storch are vague anyway. They were meant more so to stir the pot and get people talking than sending any real shots at other artists.

It diesn't line up. I remember Prince being quited as saying "sexy never left" and this was Justin's response. Still doesn't make as Prince really didn't diss him and then to come at Prince on somebody else's song with jabs that don't really make sense. Prince was not struggling commercially for an artist at his stage in his career and again, I don't think Timbaland would've co-signed Justin dissing his idol. I think this is kne if thise things the Internet took and ran with.

Who else said "sexy never left"? If you want to make that a diss, it ain't hard...especially if you feeling yourself. Also Prince was short. What do you think "Can't hear you from way up here" is referencing? There was also a video of Justin on awards show moving the mic down absurdly low in reference to Prince. I agree that it's hard to accept Timbo going along with it but nikkas move funny sometimes and go along with bullshyt all the time and this is the same man that decided to come out and pledge is lust for a teenager 20 years after she died for no reason so it's not like his decision making is batting 1000 :manny:. Prince was fully independent and wasn't getting marketing like that and he was in his 50s so no he wasn't moving units like Justin at that time (was probably making more money though). If you tryna diss somebody you not taking stuff like that into account anyway.

Didn't Prince drop his album for free right before this? Its too much plausible deniability, he kept it vague on purpose. Never liked this song either, but I miss Timbaland producing hit songs.

JT first album was very MJ influenced, the 2nd one more Prince influenced. He probably was a bit hurt by Prince not liking his album, and the song was just super petty from all 3.

This.

They kept it vague so everyone could speculate about who they were dissing.

Prince never gave an opinion on Justin Timberlake or even that album. Listening to 3121 though, there's even some influences from that album on Futuresex/Lovesounds let alone earlier Prince, which makes it funny that he would diss him considering the Prince influence.

Prince wasn't the onlybone saying this though. It was also critics. Making a statement like "I'm bringing sexy back" is pretty bold and if course, the obvious response is "what?, it never left".

Regardless if Prince's physical stature, it would be ridiculous for any artist who wasn't Prince's peer to diss him. Talking chart success against Prince even in 2006 (again Prince was coming off of the highest debut of his career in 2006) was laughable considering its Prince.
