It's seen as disrespectful and over the top. You're not supposed to admire home runs. Stare at them too long, get too hype while running the bases or run them too slow (unless you're Bartolo Colon because he literally can't run any faster) etc. It's out of "respect" for the other team/opposing pitcher since you just scored a run(s) off them.

i think the slide was fine. i didn't see the game so i dunno if there was more to the play than that, hit batters or something...some kind of shyt that put tension in the air or what.
