When you buying a receiver, make sure it comes with a few more extra hdmi ports than you currently need

this right here. you dont want to have most things plugged into the receiver and 1 or 2 things plugged directly into the tv.

For speakers, go on Amazon and check out a 5.0 set by a brand called Fluance. They're an extremely good value. I got them for my father in law for Christmas along with a bic f12 subwoofer a couple years back.

The tower set will sound richer than the bookshelf ones.

Gonna make the switch to towers in my living room setup, move the bookshelfs to one of the bedrooms.

So I want a nice sound system for my living room but i'm not quite sure what I should get. I know a lot of coli folks have a nice setup so i'll appreciate any advice or recommendations:feedme:
For a great no frills solution, consider a sound bar. Bose makes really great ones.

In general i use a lot of Bose in my home and I've been extremely satisfied. Overpriced, yes, but the quality, durability, and overall performance is second to none.

Can you recommend me some good receivers for the Fluance surround sound speakers?

Unless you plan on going the pre-amp route, any avr from Onkyo, Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, or Sony would be good. Most of them nowadays are at least 7.2 setup, you can find a good mid-level unit for $500-$700.

What setup would you do if you were living in a 1 bedroom apartment?

:salute:

I just picked up the C7 towers, currently have C-C1 center, C-R100 surround sides and backs, 2 sets of Take Classics for Atmos top front and rear, Velodyne 12/15 sub all connected to an Onkyo 11.2 channel avr. I want the Veritas eventually, I know they sound like heaven.

When I had a 1 bedroom apt I ran 5.1 due to limited living room space. 5.1 would be a minimum for me. Obviously you have to mindful of the sub noise, that could cause complaints if it's too loud at certain times, those vibrations carry in an apt building like you wouldn't believe.

Fluance AVHTB Surround Sound Home Theater 5.0 Channel Speaker System including Three-way Floorstanding Towers, Center and Rear Speakers

Dayton Audio SUB-1000 10-Inch 100 Watt Powered Subwoofer (Black)

There's also a 12" dayton model for an extra $5. I don't know a whole lot about either of them though. Dayton's are known for their bang-for-buck value though.

For the Fluance's, click the link and select "other sellers" and buy them directly from Fluance.

This Onkyo speaker setup looks pretty nice too

Onkyo SKS-HT870 Home Theater Speaker System

What's your budget, exact amount of hdmi devices, and budget, @MilesTailsPrower?

Budget is $600 or less

I'll be using a PS4, cable box, media stream machine(roku).

This will be used in an apartment setting

@MilesTailsPrower i live in a 2 bedroom condo and bought 2 klipsch floorstanding speakers, a klipsch powered subwoofer and a 7.1 onkyo receiver and it can get loud and create trembles that i know for sure my neighbors can hear. just something for you to consider for your situation.

This would push it just a hair over your budget, but you can find these refurbished online if $600 is your absolute maximum.

Denon AVR-S510BT 5.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD AV Receiver with Bluetooth

Since you're in an apt maybe consider the Fluance HD package, as it has some small woofers built into the towers. You can always add an extra sub down the line.
