In fact, he saves people all the time simply because it is "interesting."

He lives just to see what happens and he will do horrible things just like he would do good things. In fact, proof of this is how he doesn't torture people. Once he deems you a problem, he gets rid of you instantly. Once he deems you beneficial, he makes you a great offer.

homelander isnt the main character, or protagonist of the series, the boys are anti heroes. to the public of the boys world, hes a hero. to the readers/viewers he an antagonist. hes a selfish ass that takes what he wants and is only concerned with his public appearance.
