When I constantly say things can get worse for us, this is one example. These fukkers have also pulled so much healthcare funding that the little that black folks do get are compromised. Include the research funding cuts (look at the recent sickle cell funding pull) and how hard it can be to get any sort of black health professional and we just see a widening gap for black wellbeing and it's fukking distressing.

Complain about the Supreme Court but don’t vote brehs
Who’s complaining? Also they already had the majority before this election. Posting an article about black homelessness, which has been out of control for decades, should be the focus. Do you have anything to add, brother?

I'm so sorry, breh, but glad you had somebody who loves you and had a place to stay.

Unfortunately, the Coli Democrat- Americans dgaf about homeless FBA men. For the sake of the thread, tho, I'll just drop this.

Oh, and a wm was acquitted for murdering a mentally ill bm with his bare hands on a NYC subway, aided primarily by an afro-Latino who was never even charged.

And yall wonder why NYC FBA go so hard on Democrats.
Takes a special kind of resilience for the low income and ill black people in places like NY and Cali

This is why I always give to homeless black folks when I see them. I always advise people not to throw things away that could be useful to a homeless person on the streets. Any little thing helps, people should do whatever little gesture they can.

You connected with this? :ohhh:
What’s the updates on the project?
I’m not familiar with the homelessness problem in Atlanta, but I know a lot of brothers from there and the cost of living is apparently climbing each year.

Did some googles in the middle of this reply and :wow:

If Atlanta Is a Black Mecca, Why Are 8 Out of 10 Homeless People Black?

“It’s a signal that the house is still on fire and the scale of the crisis is bigger than what cities alone can handle,” one city lawmaker said.

Also see the average rent for a 1 bedroom is 1600?

Since I got my first lil teenage job, I always made sure I carried cash for homeless bm. shyt always rubbed me the wrong way.

I have so many stories about homeless bm we showed love. There was a homeless elder who used to be out in front of our 'home' bar (like ppl have home churches, lol). We befriended him immediately and would invite him in for a drink and a plate. I always wondered what hapened to him, they were trynna kidnap him into a nursing home. See, even bm elders have their own age-related risk.

1600 sounds about right unless you can get on section 8 or something. But there are plenty of apartments $900-1200 in the city and the surrounding black suburbs. It’s not expensive if you know where to look and aren’t trying to live above your means next to celebrities in Buckhead.

no troll bruh but I legit wanna know what you would do about it if you were in power & what you expect the government to do?

I’ve never had to deal with homelessness myself but it appears to be plenty of resources available to those in need. My only thing would be to get the ones off the street who don’t have a phone or something and get them enrolled in these programs.

I had an uncle who used to sleep under bridges in the city but we hooked him up with this program that gave him an apartment for $20 a month. So while I’ve never dealt with it myself, I have seen the results of these programs with homeless family members.

The issue with a lot of those programs , is it sometimes takes forever for people to get processed and approved. They deny black people, especially black men for anything. When people talk about housing programs like section 8, you usually have to be on a waitlist for a LONG time and meet certain requirements that a lot of black men simply won’t meet and it’s designed that way. There needs to be more affordable housing, an emphasis on mental health care, which affects black men severely, but we don’t receive any real assistance. With more affordable housing, more emphasis on building up black males with educational programs and mental health care, you could make a huge dent in the homelessness statistics. I don’t have all of the answers though, but there needs to be an emphasis on the cultivation of black males from birth/youth + more affordable housing. There’s no reason there should be so many new luxury apartments built and most are empty.

Affordable housing- I agree with you on this. Theres no reason why families who have been in the city for generations are priced out for some latte sipping cacs. This shyt needs to end

Mental Health Care- I agree more brothers need to get their mental health in order. A lot of us brush it off though.

Educational Programs- this is kind of a passionate subject with me being an educator and all.

When I got out the military, I worked at fast food places and department stores. I found a job as an assistant teacher that didn’t pay shyt but it gave me full benefits. With this job, I was able to save up to finish school and get my degree. If I wouldn’t have did that, I was gonna join a union since I was an electrician in the Marines, but I’m done with physical labor.

I agree with you on most stuff, but when it comes to education, I need other brothers to get their shyt in order themselves. Not saying everyone needs college, but there are other things you can do to make a decent living.
Problem is, folks want fast money and it’s lame be a regular breh working a regular job.

@blackestofpanthers know what bro….

Not even gonna hold you I think the biggest issue we have (and I might sound crazy) is the government pushing the fast money & dope boy lifestyle on our young kids. They grow up hearing this shyt everyday & grow up conditioned thinking that’s how they’re supposed to live.

I wish Obama would have done something about that, but he would have been called a c00n

That’s definitely an issue, but black males are more susceptible because of the prior issues we listed. People with higher self esteem, self worth, less mental health issues wouldn’t easily succumb to those temptations.

:what:Did you skip our coli breh's testimony?

Here in Florida they have the baker act, which basically means you can be deemed a hazard to yourself or those around you and held in a psychiatric facility against your will just by someones word.

This was used on me when I went in for help when I was younger and was honest about my thoughts of pain at the time. I was locked in with other young black men who were there just for showing anger at legitimate issues. The amount of children Baker acted is insane. Black boys being taken away for expressing any frustration. The rate at which they deem black people with illnesses like schizophrenia is ridiculous. Even if you dont have delusions or hear voices, the medication they force you will have you experiencing them. They scoff at the idea of a black person having something deemed as "acceptable" like autism and immediately go for schizophrenia or bipolar. Whatever diagnosis can get you sedated and hooked as opposed to actual help. I was diagnosed schizophrenic as soon I went in all because I told them that I felt distrustful of people around me.
And people just nonchalantly tell black men to "go get help" or therapy when it's not that simple. Of course for some it works out, but alot of professionals are not there to empathize with or understand the problems of a black male. Even worse when someone you do trust ends up misdiagnosing you or gets you locked in a psych ward and causes you to lose your employment.
