nobody mentioned the fees you get by getting arrested.
some jails put your commissary on the negative just cuz you went through intake...
and the you owe that plus any fees you get frm the courts and such.

yeah you'll be warm, but you're also going in debt :usure:

fukking disgraceful. I'm so glad I don't live in the US. I wouldn't wanna be on the wrong side of your legal system. Which seems its an easy thing to do in the US, to get on the wrong side of the law. fukking disgusting.

For real. I'd rather be homeless than be in jail. At least ur a free man and can go where you please. Also in 1st world countries, you'll survive being homeless. People give you food, people give u a little change, u won't starve.

But in those life or death cold conditions, the government should definitely provide shelter for them.

I give money to the homeless if I have it. If I was in their position, I'd appreciate people helping me out. Even if not many do. The homeless in our countries do all right IMO.
yall say that til you're freezing.

some dude recently broke out of prison, then turned himself in because it was so cold.

I understand about the cold but shouldn't the government be obligated to provide shelter? its a matter of fukking life and death. They would be violating human right laws if they didn't provide shelter.

if you're homeless because you lost your job and car brokedown etc; but you just have no options...and you commit a crime'

its over

now you're jobless, homeless, and a criminal

you've officially commited to a life of what could've been a temporary situation. Once you're a homeless jobless "criminal" you're done in america.

Rather than stay in some below zero temperatures, if use some of that begging money from the streets and buy a greyhound ticket to San Diego or LA. fukk being cold.

Last night I was walking home and it was like 7 degrees and it felt like my hands were being dipped in a frozen lake. Couldn't imagine living on the streets and trying to figure out how to "beat" the weather.

I thought about it too OP. Me and my uncle were having a discussion about why didn't Homeless people make an effort go to jail.

Homeless people aren't as bad off as you might think. Most of them actually make tons of money from begging (like $30-$200 per day depending on location). Its hard to get drunk and high in jail. Prison is a scary place filled with violent and scary people, and at the end of the day, freedom turns out to be a big deal, even if you are homeless.
But sleeping outside in like -5 degree temperature is suicide :whew:

Breh, no offense; but, this is one of those threads too bad to ignore, but; not worth a thoro reply.

We live in a capitalist society; there will be poor ppl.

Prison is literally modern day slavery, not something to sign up for.
if you had absolutely no where to go and it was that cold where else is the smartest place to go :ld:

In a city like NY, its easy to just go chill in a place like Penn Station, which is open 24 hours a day and its warm. I see homeless people in there all the time. But I;m sure in some cities, you have homeless people flat out squatting in abandoned houses. In the bigger cities, alot of homeless dont like going to the shelters because of the violence and high chance of getting your shyt stolen, but with the temperatures being so low, the cops are rounding them up and making them go to a shelter. I guess it makes sense to do that rather than collecting dead frozen bodies later on.

Also, here in NY (even if its not winter) homeless people will ride the rains all night (since they are heated) and sleep there until the morning. its a common thing to see here.
