Here is the thing, u live in a house ( outside of living in a log cabin in woods ), what services do u want to forgo?

Roads
Water/Sewer
Police/Fire/Rescue
Schools
Lights
Recreation
Etc.

That's where our property taxes go to a more I suppose
In reality the questions you should be asking are how and why did those services start costing dramatically more than they ever have, and on top of that, these services are all a lower quality than they have been in 20+ years

The answer isnt to shut the fukk up and submit payment..

Im not thrilled about paying more, who would?

I pay property and income tax locally.

Lets assume no tax or half property tax as a thought exercise. That money is going to get made up somehow and it's likely off the backs of renters and low income

Your current Republican regime is all for that but how about us?

Exactly. Crickets. No tax folks could try and live in a mountain in Montana but taxes would still find them :wow:

Because it's a system set up to keep kings and bankers rich. Yeah, you'll never fight it, we already know that. You are going to sit there and go to work to pay your taxes like a good indoctrinated citizen. Thanks for your service.

Inflation?

Over the last 20 years the cost of a brick has gone up along with labor and the price of oil (which effects the price of road maintenance due to oil being an input of bitumen/tar)

lot of cacs upset about taxes, this is something new in America we are seeing:russell:

But let's make sure corporations and the 1% pay no taxes and we just fight over the crumbs
Who do you know that's happy paying taxes?
:mjlol:
Not wanting to see your tax dollars wasted by Bureaucrats means your Republican.

The difference is between shared burden

Debate this with one of the riches men in the world

Warren Buffett: No one would owe 'a dime' of federal taxes if other companies paid fair share

Locally, ppl who pay property taxes (myself included) benefit from rising property values as city services and your own efforts add value to your property. Imagine paying close to nothing in federal taxes if corps paid their fair share as Warren Buffett says and this wouldn't even be a discussion.

Yeah, and deeper in debt over wars. Who's going to pay for that?....

oh yeah, the people.
Correct, were being punished for the decisions and greed of our lawmakers and politicians and are helpless to fight it.

Which is precisely why we shouldnt have the :yeshrug: mentality when theres discourse about it, develop awareness to those around us so we be vocal enough to create change.

Which leads me to this ^

Yes we know taxation is mandatory, but what isnt mandatory is this rampant corporate greed in combination with it. Somethings gotta give, the government needs to get out of bed with the corporations and create some kind of regulation, thats what im advocating for above removal of taxation. But alas we wont be getting that under this predatory era of government suits

I know this is a radical thought but hear me out....

As a single dude, I would love to live in a city with no parents whatsoever. Or at least, no school aged parents. A place which actively does not build or support a school system, incentivizing parents to leave for elsewhere when their child becomes four. :ohlawd:

Imagine how low the tax burden would be if none of these elementary, middle, or highschools were hogging tax revenue.

I'd imagine retirees, DINKs, and older parents with an empty nest would prefer a similar setup too. I've always thought it was stupid for me to be charged to take care of your kids. In an ideal society only the people with children would pay towards schools that their children are attending. It should not be a shared expense for everybody who just happens to have a house.
