Keef had already built local buzz before Don’t Like popped off though. That’s a crucial part in starting a successful rap career.
Another thing is "it factor." No amount of money in the world can make a person have that, that's all natural. You can give a boring rapper a million dollar budget, the best studios/engineers, top 40 producers, mainstream features, ect, but that doesn't mean they'll be marketable

You just scratched the surface :mjlol:

A lot of these rappers buy a mic and protools and a computer for their own in home studio

You have to pay to “book” your own shows

Weed for all of the hangers on

Buying rappers with slightly bigger followings to be on their tracks

All to chase a dream that most of them aren’t even good at :francis: the sad part is that people see rapping as “an easy way toward upward mobility” when really it’s what’s holding them back :wow:

It's a lot cheaper if you can this stuff in house

Got a home studio but I'm about to save up money and buy a camera, dj set, and learn photoshop/after effects.so I can edit videos and do mixtape/album covers

:blessed: Being a 1 man team. Why be just a rapper when you can do it all

Because your quality of music will suffer making everything else pointless.

Idiots.

A hot song is the one and only thing that will generate any real heat.

If you have a hot song, it has legs of its own. One person hears it and says "Yo! I want to hear this again. I want my peops to hear it." And it goes from there.

If people aren't doing that one their own then you do not have a hot song.

DO NOT SHOOT A VIDEO OR ANY OF THAT STUPID SH.IT UNTIL YOU MAKE YOUR HOT SONG.

And step one (making the song) will take 99% of these cats the rest of their lives to accomplish.

The cart is so far ahead of the horse these days.

I do agree you need a computer, some software, and a mic. But you can prolly get a decent version of all those for under a G.

But do not worry about getting the sound quality PERFECT until you are creating material that makes people get involved. Not music that you have to keep forcing down your friends' throats.

that's not true either. you should shoot videos for your music. look at how we consume music primarily; streaming online through apps that almost ALWAYS provide video. people have channels on YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc. music and video have been integrated since MTV, and have become a necessity for internet presence since the rise of YouTube.

you should have video concepts for any song you make. look at beyonce's album from a few years ago. people are making whole films and works of art off their music.

what it really is is cats don't have the vision. they jump into the game to make money and don't know the nuts and bolts of their craft, just business...

I’ve never done it personally but I know people who have. Normally it’s the artists management who takes care of that stuff unless they do everything on their own.

Let's say you do all that stuff and want your music on the local radio, how much does that cost?

Trap Queen was out for a year before it took off. Fetty was pleading with Envy to play it for the longest then Envy started showing him love. Who knows how many other DJs was supporting him. Now imagine if he didn't have that support from people on the inside to help build. Fetty's number 1 could very well be collecting dust. That field of dreams shyt is heart warming but not reality. On top of that sometimes shyt blows up for different reasons. Is Hot nikka still Hot nikka without people seeing Bobby throw his hat up? :yeshrug:

You have no experience with the music industry, do you?
