As far as the article goes it's only about time and we should have expected this day would come.

Every group who feels targeted by the rest of society will eventually grow a backbone and start fighting back. We've seen this many times throughout history. Blacks, jews, etc.

Gays have had it rough for a while now and they are just now starting to get SOME respect. Still not safe for them out there in most parts of the world. Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad are all tough places to be openly gay. Even my homeboy from Saint Kitts tells me beating gay dudes to the brink of death is casual sh!t in some parts there.

It is a separate language.

It's just English-based. But not quite English, really. But if you want it recognized as a language you start treating it like one. Do what Haiti's doing with Creole: teach it in schools and set its official vocabulary. Every language evolves from another or combination of others. It's up to its speakers to cultivate it and get it recognized. Think about is this way: Many centuries ago there as no "English" language. English evolved from french and german thus why so many similarities.

I could be wrong on the date but did you know that as of early 400 A.D., french was still the official language used in courtrooms in England?

you're right but the language issue in Jamaica is different than in Haiti....just look at how people reacted to the Patois bible when it came out. even in my family my grandmother and dad always called patois "bad english"
