Im an agnostic deist here and I've never really strictly adhered to any religious doctrine(Though I've recently gotten into Buddhism), but I feel like the economic problem is substantially more important than the religious one TBH. Nigerian Americans have the highest rate of education in America and this is even with a massive religious presence in Nigerian culture(I say this as a Nigerian culture)

Even if African-American communities completely tossed away religion it wouldn't really matter when schools with large African American populations are systemically disenfranchised leaving blacks with almost no chance of being succeed with society

However, I do not think the black community is more homophobic than any other group but we are more strict on gender roles. Aww, I’m so sorry to hear that. My prayers go out to you and your family. It’s always tough losing a loved one.

They’re human just like we are. I think cutting them off because of the lifestyle they choose to live is a bit extreme and I’ve realized this over the past few years myself, especially since I have a few people in my family who are gay. They need love and support as well.
