Maryland has 4 HBCUs: Morgan, Coppin, University of MD Eastern Shore, and Bowie

I'm very aware about Maryland HBCU's. I'm just trying to see if you Maryland guys are still considered a southern state. I know culturally you guys are like a northeast state, but I think the census still had you labeled a southern state.

This was a slave state and its under the Mason-Dixon line so technically its the south. People get confused cuz MD was with the Union during the Civil War. But many people don't kno MD was gonna secede. When Lincoln got word of it he sent Federal troops to the State House to stop the secession. He did that so DC wouldn't be surrounded by Confederate states

I think most people consider Richmond VA the start of the South....anything north of that is the Northeast.
