Honestly, Pet Ownership Should be Banned

this thread Went to the animal shelter today...its about 70% pit bulls just reaffirmed my believe that pet ownership should be banned except in rare cases. No species should be able to own another no matter how much more one is intelligent than the other. I understand in circumstances where we need them for our own survival (like how dogs came about) but nowadays that's not necessary and most pet owners have no other reason to own pets other than to fill some void or as fashion accessories talking about that's my best friend or child till they get tired of them and get rid of them like garbage. There is no good reason for wide spread pet ownership in a modern society, this shyt should be stopped.

I agree. We don't need pets. My wife has dogs and I love her argument when I don't take them for a walk. "Dogs needs to get out in there natural environment" Or she'll talk about there natural instincts and what they're supposed to eat and act like. She especially loves pulling that line out when they're barking making noise and being annoying. Then I look at her and . Then I just tell her like is being inside during a cold winter night how they survive naturally or eating processed dog food. She doesn't say much after that.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to have pets. They mistreat or abuse the dogs. Some know how to raise a pitbull but others just think it's cool to have one and it's just used for fighting. Then there are those who have no business owning a dog if they can't even take care of themselves. I have friends who have a dog, not a pit but a small pomeranian I wanna say. Anyways they live in an apartment and the dog is in the cage all day. Has little to no training and just isn't taken care of right. At one point they just put a dog gate in a kitchen corner and let him sleep there. They should've got rid of him but no. Some people just want pets to look cool without having the responsibilities of owning one. Or they get one for their child expecting the child to take care of the dog and they won't. It shouldn't be banned but I don't know what can be done. Some humans aren't just mentally capable of taking care of another living creature.

Don't currently own a pet, but there are physical and mental health benefits to owning one. So there are good reasons for people to have a pet. Besides, you can make the "don't need" argument with a bunch of stuff we currently have.
