Honestly, why are people so mean to each other?

I was meditating about this earlier today while I was spitting chickens and it came back to me while observing a protest.

I was hating on the protesters. Some guy told me off. Typically I'd respond with something witty but out of bounds and mean. What he said changed my position.

He said, "some people never fukk with anybody but they get made fun of. I've never heard a vegan tell someone they can't exercise their rights because they eat meat. I've never seen gay people tell straight people they can't get married. Someone's life is their own and everyone has the right to express themselves without being insulted for it."

I'm mean as fukk. People often tell me when they first met me I was rude and mean to them. Lol, to me it's jokes, but to them it's how they view me, as someone who enjoys being mean.

It's not them, it's me, and I've been working my ass off to repair my relationships and communicate in a healthier way. Sometimes I can't believe I said what people tell me I said because it's so fukking foul. Lol but I know I said it because it's outrageous.

Anyway, read it, ignore it, insult me, or support me. You know what it is. We're still out here writing essays in a public space because I'm an attention whore. I'm also full of shyt.

Some people just don't know how to be nice to others. That, or they're afraid of looking vulnerable. Most of the people that I assumed were naturally mean were the nicest people. The only reason why they appeared to be mean was because they didn't want to look weak. Many feel the need to uphold to a certain image. I think it's all stupid. Making someone else's day makes me feel good, so that's what I try to do. Nothing wrong with being kind.

I'm starting to believe this. I think I was evil or possessed by evil for a while. Since I've been meditating and focusing on my mastering myself I've realized how waste we are as a species. We speak to each other like words have no value.

That's what children do. I think adults tend to assume being able to function in society in the role of an adult makes them mature.

It doesn't.

Maturity comes from intellectual and spiritual challenges. Maturity is having the ability to look in the mirror and correct yourself. It's hard to do but it's necessary.

Very true. I don't believe actions speak louder than words. I think a lot of people are snakes and the real them will reveal itself when they're mad or you're in need.

Even when I'm furious if I see someone struggling I feel bad. I hate this girl so much. She pissed me the fukk off. I'm sure she hates me. But today I forgave her.

I feel bad for her now because I clearly was trying to build a bridge with her and she still was being catty.

That poor girl is so negative and consumed by evil she'd rather have beef with someone than a mutually beneficial relationship.

I guess because we sometimes forget that other people are actually people that are exactly like us with their own families, their own loved ones, their own beliefs.

It's too easy to get caught up in your own life and your ideas and to disregard other people's emotions

The golden rule is the golden rule for a reason, it's actually really thought-provoking when you imagine that wow everyone is just like you and has their own emotions and history too and our individual lives are not the centre of the universe.

Perhaps some people can't handle empathy because it scares them. It's scary to think that you're not a unique and special individual and that all humans are essentially the same as you because it undermines your sense of individualism so maybe people adopt an evil selfish attitude as a way to protect their egos and sense of self.
