Folks also fail to realize that HBCUs have to fight and sometimes sue the states they are in because the states will steal their money that is given to them by the government.

Jackson state and Alcorn both had to sue the state of Mississippi because they were stealing their money and giving it to white colleges.

Honestly man y'all sounded pretty mediocre compared to top hbcu bands, it just that our band is so god awful y'all were great by default. Really I was disappointed. There were plenty of times yall could have played when the ball was dead but y'all just sat there. The renditions of Sweet Dreams and Funky Stuff were horrible. That halftime dance routine was short too, left the field with still a minute to go. I did see some phat asses on the dance squad though, chick in the front right was slangin some Mya G type ass out there. I was in an hbcu band before I went to GT and I just quit, I couldn't put myself through that corp style garbage.

That's one thing I hate about going to a PWI, I spend the whole game looking at our band like . Get them fukkin xylophones off the field!

I usually go to any GT game where we play an hbcu because I miss playing in that type of band a lot and SC State kicked our band ass a lot harder than Alcorn State did.

I know, which is why i was even more disappointed in yall. Did you go to the game? Am i lying when i say yall sat on your horns for most of the game? Am i lying when i say the field show was short? When you play a PWI you know you gonna get killed on the field so you supposed to just let them have it band wise as much as possible. It was like yall didnt even want to be there. I know damn well yall dont do that with Jackson State, ASU, and Southern. Although IMO Southern has kinda dropped quality wise due to the trumpets pretty much taking over the band and screaming to the point where it doesnt even sound good anymore (this coming from a trumpet player).

Just being honest bruh, yall wouldnt belong in the stadium with the better HBCU bands with what you had on display yesterday. Uptown Funk was good so ill give yall props there.

1st off you played in the band before? Im talking college. If you did there is no way you would defend that struggle Funky Stuff yall threw out there. Every black band from high school to college plays that song and ive honestly never heard it sound worse than what was on display yesterday.

Southern trumpets sound good to someone who hasnt played in the band. Screaming is good when it fits in the song but when you do it damn near on every song the shyt turns into a gimmick. When you cant even tell me what note you are playing tells me something is wrong. 30 trumpets all trying to scream, and playing a different note doesnt always sound good.

When did the GT officials tell you not to play? When you play the white schools sometimes they be tripping on playing before the ball is snapped which is why they always play them short ass pep songs then stop. They sometimes act dumb even when you play softly then crank back up when its snapped which i see yall tried once. Im talking about full timeouts and quarter changes where your band just sat there, unacceptable. Could have been a space constraint but yall dancers werent even dancing in the stands to the few songs yall did play.

Stop bruh you are on here clowning SU trumpets and giving props to SCSU. You just don't know what you're talking about. Just because you can't do what SU trumpets are doing doesn't make it a gimmick. It's a style. Lol at not knowing the notes, I thought you were a trumpet player? They are hitting Grands which is very difficult to do.

Yes I marched and played trumpet in college for 3yrs. I've battled all types of bands, you just don't know what you are hearing or what to look for.
Funky stuff is not played by the entire band, it's a tuba solo with a band stand routine. It's tradition. Any one that knows anything about the SWAC bands know this already regarding Alcorn. Same thing with Sweet dreams. Smh stop breh you sounding real ignorant right now.

Seriously though, hearing Grambling was having trouble funding their Athletic Dept is fukking disgusting. Dunno why so many have problems giving back at HBCUs. At least you doing the right thing. I drop a dub every year to :gt: and they damn sure don't need it. But it's the least I could do.

Send that money to GT athletics. I refuse to give the academic side anything. They get plenty and don't share with sports teams.
