I feel lazy my dad’s property is amazing. The last decade plus he really built it. He’s made it into a business center rather than a hotel and he’s collecting rent. He had it as a hotel but business was tougher. So I’m chilling but not used to people (his staff) doing all this stuff for me. My mom is here and she got fed up with the workers she’s teaching the women how to clean better and they put a kitchen on the roof of our building for my mom to do her own cooking. Lmao

The city has definitely gotten a high rise boom. Lot of new buildings. I was in Xamarweyn and the scars of the civil war are everywhere. Went to Liido Beach today and ate there last night at this spot owned by a family friend from Baltimore.

The checkpoints by the police and soldiers got these young cats man. Making like $250 a month.

City needs urban planning, lot of sanitation, plumbing upgrades, trash and recycling spots everywhere, green spaces…

And all the poor masaakin people on the streets is overwhelming. They’re asking me for cash and think I have EVC. I don’t got it. And I’m not carrying cash. Hassan Sheikh and these governments before him really are shameless stealing money.

I was at Elite Hotel earlier and I was reminded the owner was a Xidhibaan and finance minister in Hassan Sheikh’s first term. The guy who was called the “30 year old with $30M”.

This is why I'm reluctant to support the oil discovery this soon, the amount of corruption by politicians and businessmen is insane already.
Besides those high towers, there's no investment in the public sector not even the roads outside of their own businesses.

Mogadishu is pretty safe right now. I’ve only heard two gunshots and it was probably police dispersing something. There’s checkpoints by police in a lot of areas that Shabaab have targeted. Like Liido Beach.

We don’t go too many places. My dad does his daily walks at night around the KM4 area.

I was at Liido last night. The restaurant I went to is Pescatore which is owned by this guy we know who lived in Baltimore. They had a live band last night. Men and women singing.

I thought about Shabaab bombing Liido last year. Somalida are gonna keep doing what they do though.

Hassan Sheikh bet right on sticking with Turks.

But the Trump administration is clearly not willing to fund the array of programs via State Department and Defense Department. As we know, USAID was dismantled and only a couple of projects for food assistance remain for Somalia.

Also, the Trump administration doesn't want to fund the AU Mission in Somalia. They are anti-International Organizations.

Being here in Mogadishu, I see the AU troops patrolling and they're around the airport and in Halane. Mainly the Ugandans.

Hormuud's office is right next to Masjidka Cali Jimcaale. Google that and you'll see who built it

Airport has Turks hands over it. The only 5-star hotel in Mogadishu (Decale) is right next to the airport and built by the Turks. Turks are all over there.

The Embassy is huge.

TurkSom military base is also huge. Their trucks you'll see in the city every now and then.

Pipe dreams, no majors have explored yet and reality is low oil price really lowers their risk appetite. Guyana is historically peaceful and has relatively stable government. We can’t even figure out basic property rights let alone determine ownership and governance over natural resources.
