Crook & his older brother started teaching them how to rap when they were kids. And I mean... Crook himself wrote his first raps when he was like 8 years old. So they all pretty much grew up into it.

I think HSG mentioned in some interview they were supposed to be "child/teen group" in the late90s... I think they all were born in the 80s. Kenny is the youngest and he's born in 87 (I think).

I think Dice was in some music video rapping with Crook in the mid/late90s and looked pretty young so he's prolly the oldest, could be born in late 70s, but I think Crook was born in 77-78 too so probably not.

at least it sounds/looks like young Dice. At this point I'm rambling... but peep how different Crook's flow/rhyming is from everyone else on the same song too, same thing he was talking about in the Combat Jack interview, that he was influenced by different style when he was living in the East Coast when he was a in his early teens. And when he came back to Long Beach he sounded almost completely different from everyone because his flow was so aggressive.

I knew it had to be something like that, no way all 5 of them just picked it up one day, I'll get round to listening to this I enjoyed Firing Squad (?) mostly because of Picture of Anger and Liquor Abuse, underrated group...if anything id say a lot of the time from what iv heard they're better at crafting actual "songs" then Crooked when he's solo.

Crook's verse on "Hood High" though :banderas:

and lol @ me talking about Crook & his big brother teaching HSG how to rap... when Mad Man on "Hood High" is Crook's older brother & I didn't even notice he's on this album. I've never heard Crook & Mad Man on a song together before

And it's getting worse cause she's giving birth to two sons; Gift and Curse
That's Mad Man and that's Crooked yup
They followed in my mother's footsteps
Put together a brotherly rap group, but they got into it and then Crooked left
Now Crooked repping that C.O.B
Mad Man is repping that U.N.G
See music is breaking my brothers up and that fukking suck but that's true indeed

And when it comes to this rap industry my older brothers don't get the respect they deserve
I'm guessing they cursed, and yes we inherit the curse, my brothers ain't never been first
But the Shoe Gang ain't never been served
We veterans with every word
We can teach Drake and Wayne a thing or two
Teach J Cole how to better his verse
I can teach Nas how to ride a beat
I can tweak Pac's philosophy's
I can teach Socrates, I can preach about Christian hypocrisy
Tell Jay Z and Shady the new Rap God MC is me
But they probably won't see me because I'm cursed obviously

After the song Demetrius pretty much their family's story, their mom & aunt were singers/writers who never blew up & their moms started having kids. And that Crook & Mad Man couldn't agree about shyt when they started a rap group together & parted ways.
