Hospital folks...how do DNR releases work?

If a patient had one signed and then a nurse or doctor tries to give them CPR, can that nurse or doctor be sued?

If a patient needs resuscitation, but too much time passes, will they be "mildly retarded" once resuscitated? Is that the reason that DNR releases exist?

Nope he did CPR without reading the file, somebody tried to go to the upper room and he brought them back. Now they find run his pockets

Bonus question, do they make DNR bracelets or necklaces that people can wear throughout their regular life? If not, a person can be in a car accident, and then a stranger can come and try to resuscitate them, although they may never have wanted to be resuscitated in the first place.

Do Not Resuscitate = DNR

This usually means do not attempt CPR if the patient stops breathing or their heart stops.

I do believe that if a person is a person is classified as DNR and you perform CPR I do think there is some liability.

However at times there are different levels or categories or instructions for instructions for A DNR patient.

I'm a contract nurse so usually when I get a new assignment their code status is the 1st thing I look at for all my patients.

He flatlined and died.

I felt bad for the old homeless man but he apparently signed some paperwork to let him die.

Side question, on the show 24, they use "epinephrine" alot after people have been dead for like a minute or something. Is that the one where if you stab someone with the EpiPen in the heart they may come back "mildly retarded", and they'll be possibly more "retarded" the longer you wait?
