With all these new healthcare laws being passed by the US Senate it's really no surprise to the conclusion that many hospitals in the United States are nearly all for profit. Meaning that these hospitals being run will charge you for your money. As one person pointed out most people really do have shyt insurance. However other people can't afford them. That's right.

If Americans simply are properly it would eliminate most of the need for hospitals. Basically change your diet up and hospital bills likely won't even be a reality in your life.

Hospitals that don’t face competition from other nearby hospitals have huge power in their local markets.

This is not unique and doesn't really paint a picture of the complex relationships between payers, providers and pharma.

Power within a local market changes considerably across the country. To understand the relationships, you have to break it down into a city, state, regional and national landscape.

The power of hospitals, in lets say Buffalo, NY, is considerably different from the power of hospitals in Des Moines, IA.

Hospitals are scams. I hope technology can wipe out their scamming ways. Especially HMOs that fukk up everything.

How would technology wipe out their scamming ways? Technology costs force them to do more procedures and charge more for the procedures.

Not to mention, once they get the new top of the line technology, they have a business and legal advantage over the price they're able to charge your insurance company.

that's cause nobody knew what we were paying for and how it changed from hospital to hospital, or market to market

data analytics is changing that

Hospitals are about to cake up off them baby boomers as they die horrible deaths due to shyt eating habits/life styles :banderas:

Mental health has ensured huge profits in that sector because people are living longer. Things are changing though. Medicare and other third party payers are moving to a value based system. CMS (Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services) hopes to have 50% of their payments going out on that model by 2018. Anyone that works in healthcare knows that as CMS goes, the rest of the industry will follow. That will ensure better care as well. Hopefully, it will continue to spur the proliferation of electronic medical records as that will help bring down costs as well because we as a country are mostly still in stage 1 of meaningful use criteria in the usage of EHRs.
