He did 5 million, 3 million and another 2 million on dynasty.. The ROC was riding high.. They was going up to radio and murdering shyt for hours straight and Jay didn't even have to rap. He was headlining stadium tours. He had the hottest bytch in the game..
Meanwhile Nas was doing numbers but nobody was feeling those albums.. Illmatic was legendary, nikkas was already meh about IWW, and then the next one was really mid... Then Nastradamus did half of that and was considered trash. Nobody was thinking Nas still had another illmatic in him. "I gave you life when nikkas forgot you MC'd" was REAL.. Nas was moving into has been status when Jay lit a fukking fire under his ass that he never cooled down from... To this day....
But if you was outside in 98-01... You damn sure was shocked and surprised at Nas... Which is another reason Ether hit so hard..
