I stayed in "NoMa"
Went to some chinese store called Full Yum on P and North Capital to get mumbo chicken (overrated btw) and saw a crackhead pull a machete out his pants on another crackhead. I never actually saw people smoking crack before in real life until last weekend. It's 2023 and it's really people out DC smoking crack on major street corners at 1pm.
I been around SE and Anacostia before but in a car, didn't think it was that bad. This time I had feet on land and it's another world out there.
Not that it's a competition or anything but I was sleeping on DC all this time. I'm a breh that walks through Kensington fine but them DC goons and crackheads had me anxious as hell

DC never made me uneasy driving...Baltimore OTOH, I was trying to hit one of the famous crab cake spots and had to drive thru the hood to get there, I never wanted to run more red lights in my life

The crazy thing is even the parts of DC that don’t look bad are filled with crashdummies, Rayful Edmond fukked that city up.
But multiple people have told me they never felt as unsafe or uncomfortable anywhere in the USA as they felt in Baltimore.

Having visiting all 3 cities, Baltimore's hoods is straight war-zone territory.
Certain parts of East and West Baltimore has this depressing aura due to broken down run down homes, messy trash and potholes. Most of these broken down homes are used as trap houses for drug distribution -- mostly hard drugs like heroin, crack and meth. Remember, Baltimore is a port city.
The decline of Baltimore is due to mismanagement and unequal distribution of funding (most of the taxes are diverted towards the county suburbs), white flight (racial segregation) and drug trade.
The abandoned buildings were once flourishing businesses and homes people once lived. Once the government stopped intervening to renovate these buildings, they started to deteriorate.
It's a pity because Baltimore has a lot of untapped potential especially with Real Estate.
