I prefer a really dope hotel, in almost all cases, but sometimes I'll do both. If you get off a 10 hour flight, the last thing you want to do is deal with AirBnb hosts, picking up keys, and finding some flat in Shoreditch, there's always or usually some complication, esp. if it is truly a private residence with the owner doing it remotely. I like to just go straight to the hotel, hit the shower and relax.
Also, AirBNb can be more isolating, and less of a destination than a hotel, a dope hotel will have good restaurants, lounges, bars, even clubs. An AirBNb will drastically reduce the price of your trip, which can be really advantageous.
