Republicans gonna fumble their way into bringing universal health care to the U.S. :marbrook:
I've heard more and more people speak openly about about either public option or single payer than anytime before.

My own mother is a doctor and has never even discuss it in the past and is now a fierce proponent of either one.

I wasn't on board that maybe Trump would be a good thing in the long term for progressive politics but...I'm slowly on board with that thinking. :wow:

The problem is however, while I think Trump is definitely a propped up idiot through people who are paid to lobby Russia's interest, it seems democrats are putting all their eggs in that basket.

They are too damn scared to step up and advocate something considered radical in the united states such as "Public Option". Hell I would be down for single payer and killing the insurance industry, but can we at least get a public option as a middle ground here? :scust:

Nah. Come '18 and '20 I expect them to stay in line and vote Trump/GOP

Sticking it to liberals is more important than their own health

Oh no doubt...they refuse to allow logic and common sense....and at its core I don't have any problem with the basic principle of conservatvism....low taxes, pro growth, right to bear arms...it's the religious zealot, no insurance, invade every country, Murica, cranky Archie Bunker shyt I can't get with.

And I like parts of liberalism...universal health care...no need for guns in fukking kindergarten classes and reasonable environmental protections....But shyt...I hate their side of I should be cool with men in restrooms for women, tree hugging, don't make fat jokes cause it may offend, every rich person is evil attitude. Whatever fukkin happened to a middle fukkkin ground?!?

This is how it should work...they should open up the federal health benefits to every uninsured American and Medicaid for the people who can't afford it. Medicaid could still be ran by private companies but just cost people like $5-$50 a month depending on income...household, etc. And free for disabled or similar. Insurance companies in your state would be able to participate to cover you locally. Give people per state or region a timeframe to sign up.

People who opt out would have to sign a waiver to agree to forfeit insurance and any assistance for a year and it would explicitly state you will lose all assets...401k house car etc and they be taken to pay for your care. We won't fine your ass but don't ask for fukkin help either. And if you have no assets we will take your spouse shyt, alimony, kids college fund what the fukk ever.....It'll satisfy the liberals so everyone has a chance to get in and conservatives who want it to stay in private companies.

You would have companies begging to join. And yes you could buy from another state but every policy must cover the same services...and have a contract with your hospitals, clinics etc. Shyt like comsetic, or sex change shyt or abortion can't be covered. Dental and eye vision would be available too. You could compare all your medications on the site to pick the best insurer and it spits out a price. You could either pay up front or monthly...up front cheaper but subsidized regardless. Make sign up time during tax refund season to make this work.

See how many would opt out....nobody would or only the dummies. Keep the age 26 rule, pre existing condition etc. Hospitals and clinics would have to post prices like fukkin Wal-Mart. Your insurance card should be able to be swiped at any place and they should be able to tell you ON THE SPOT your costs prior to a procedure...I understand other shyt like ER or major surgery but a CT scan or MRI should be easy.

These free market people keep fukkin forgetting the free market works when they buyer and seller openly know the price of the service prior to being rendered....these Paul Ryan types keep stressing shyt but forget that medical NEVER disclose prices first.

But this health care is a no brainer...these dummies are voting for their demise. It is literally comedy these people hate the principle of socialism but love its daily parts of their lives. Now that they can get kicked off it's all hell to pay. Fukk em.

A week after Republicans introduced a health care bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, CNN is set to host a town hall with Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price on Wednesday, March 15.

The town hall, which will focus on the GOP's health care bill, will be moderated by CNN's Wolf Blitzer and Dana Bash.
Since its introduction this week, legislation from top GOP lawmakers to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act has drawn a flood of opposition from Republicans and Democrats in Congress and a range of health care leaders and industry stakeholders including doctors and major hospital groups.

While the bill's writers and the White House confidently insist that the plan will get passed, they have been far less eager to put their names on it. Price spoke during a White House press briefing Tuesday to publicly support the bill and explain why Congress should pass it.

"Our goal is absolutely to make certain that individuals have the opportunity to select their physician," Price told reporters.

Was on the phone talking about this with my mom and just this dude in general. Shes a doctor and basically just said "he is a bullshyt artist" and refuses to watch. Also mentioned it angers her that whenever she sees him on TV he uses the "As a physician" line. Says that means bullshyt and she knows physicians who are as crazy as the worst right wing partisans who think if you get cancer and can't afford healthcare its because you're lazy. Doctors think this. So this guy can kick rocks.

Glad to see the first guy who asked a question about medicaid expansion basically say "uh no you didn't answer my question" when blitzer hit him with the followup :mjlol:

No no no

What you heard was that essential health benefits would not be touched with this plan.

Recheck my thread: 115th Congress defunds ACA: Senate: 51-48 House:227-198; Executive Order signed 1/20

The repeal and replacement takes place as part of the budget reconciliation. Which means they could only touch the tax and spend portions of the bill. The individual mandate is considered a tax via the highest court in the land:
The controlling opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, upheld the mandate as a tax, although concluded it was not valid as an exercise of Congress’ commerce clause power. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan joined in the outcome.
Supreme Court Health Care Decision: Individual Mandate Survives | The Huffington Post

Anything involving benefit requirements and insurance standards has to be done via 60 votes in the Senate and through a full legislative session.

This is where part's 2 and 3 come into affect. The extensions to this plan will strip consumers of their benefits and push medicare cuts.
