My worry would be the fracturing of political power where no one wins. A seperate caucus would be a better option first in my opinion. Force change from inside. This is what republicans who felt their party wasn't extreme enough right did. Hence the freedom caucus and making Boehner call shyt quits.
Democrats need to force the party to change instead of breaking off into small completely separate fractions where no one has enough power to take on a diverse but whole republican coalition

Look they have the power, at least for two years if they want to sink healthcare in this country with even more shyt that will never pass in the senate then go for it. Unfortunately no matter how extreme the house bill is, it will never get through the senate unless you please some democrats.
